Lowca Community School Lowca Whitehaven CA28 6QS th Friday 19 May 2017 Telephone: 01946 372656 Well done to our trophy winners for excelling at the talents listed below. Reception KS1 Lower Junior Upper Junior Layla Barwise for neat work Lily-Rie for working really hard all week Dexter Harman for story writing and Maths Ella Smye for not giving up in Maths Infants The Infants are still really enjoying their ‘rainforest’ topic that they were also doing last week. This week we also learned about the story of ‘chocolate’-yum yum! In Maths we have been counting in ten’s and looking at patterns in numbers. On Thursday afternoon we had a delightful time exploring texture and colour with mud! May we remind pupils about not wearing earrings during P.E. and that they need to be removed during this lesson? Also, can we remind the pupils to have trainers for outdoor learning on Fridays? Juniors The juniors had a great time on Wednesday afternoon when they travelled to Lamplugh School to take part in the high 5’s competition there. We had a lovely email today from the P.E. teacher saying how impressed he had been with the attitude of the Lowca School pupils. Well done to those who took part. Headteacher: Mrs Joanne Crawford E-mail: [email protected] Big welcome to Happy hours nursery providers Following “Let’s Play’s” retirement at the end of this academic year, we are thrilled to announce that “Happy Hours” will be operating a nursery provision from the current school site from the beginning of September. The school will be renting them the current nursery room and “Happy Hours” will operate as an independent nursery provider. They currently have nursery settings in Seaton and Low Moresby and come highly recommended. Here is an extract from their latest Low Moresby Ofsted inspection. The full inspection report is available to read online. “Children enjoy a good range of outdoor activities and play opportunities. These are provided in a number of outdoor play areas, including a woodland play area with a forest nature trail where children can explore and investigate the natural world around them.” Ofsted16.5.13 If you have any enquiries please contact Happy Hours directly on 01946591000 Dates for your diary Wednesday 24th May Inter school athletics Friday 26th May School closes for half term Monday 5th June Summer term starts Monday 12th June Year 1 Phonics tests week Thursday 22nd June Library bus visit Tuesday 27th June National Trust Visit KS2 Thursday 29th June Y6 Residential to Newcastle Friday 30th June Y6 Residential to Newcastle Tuesday 11th July Sports day (Provisional) Friday 14th July Dress Rehearsal Monday 17th July School production - 1:30pm & 6pm (TBC) Wednesday 19th July Leavers Assembly 2:30pm Thursday 20th July Finish for summer holidays – 1:15pm
