possibility of becoming a Director,
please feel free to drop in.
On another note, I would like to thank
Barry McEntee and Steve Jones for
their 10 year service to the Goulburn
Invitational Day. This year there was
a very strong field of 150 people who
enjoyed a great day and helped raise
money for a number of charities.

FROM MANAGER ROB
Dear Members
After our recent Board Meeting held
on the 28th February 2017 I felt it
would be best to inform you all that
our current President Paul Falk has
decided
to
resign,
effective
immediately.
In saying this, we currently now have
only five Directors on the Board. The
Board and I feel that it would be best
to hold a special meeting with the
members to inform you of our current
financial position and also discuss the
possibility of more members
stepping forward and becoming
Directors of the Goulburn Golf Club.
The date for this special meeting will
be 29th March 2017 @ 6:30pm. If
you would like to discuss with me the
SLOW PLAY:
There is a lot of talk about slow play
again. I could say that your place is
behind the group ahead, not ahead of
the group behind. But I would rather
share a letter from a UK man (Keith
Steel).
"I am confused by the constant letters
saying how slow play is destroying
golf. The professional game is
different to the amateur game in
respect that it can be controlled and
players put on the clock. In the
amateur game, slow play is not the
problem. It's a complete lack of
etiquette and common sense that is.
What is wrong with recognising that
the group behind is playing faster and
just waving them through? That way,
the group in front will not feel
pressurised anymore, and the group
behind can get on with their game. It's
a win-win situation. Golf holds its
own above many other sports due to
the fact that it is self-regulated and
has a long history of being played in
an honourable way. A lot of time and
money is being invested to get more
people into the game, but this work
will all be in vain if we are bringing
people who have a selfish and
inconsiderate attitude."
Very interesting thoughts aren't they?
Please consider others on the golf
course.
We are going to introduce a hole-ofthe-week that is named on the Local
Rules Board. We ask that everyone
helps make their course better by
taking an extra bucket of sand and fill
divots down the hole and repair an
extra divot each on that week’s green.
If we can all do this, the improvement
in the course will be noticeable.
Thanks for reading and remember a
bad day on the golf course is better
than a good day at work.
