SPECIAL REGULATIONS
Exhibitors will need to provide all straw for their bedding as no initial bedding will be
provided this year.
With the intention that every breed can be represented in the Interbreed classes as from & including the 2016 Devonport
A & P Show every breed will have their own breed class.
Breeds with 6 or Less Class entries excluding group classes & calves will be awarded Grand Champion Female & Male
Ribbons Only. With the best Senior and Junior exhibits from these breeds still eligible to compete in the Interbreed
section.
Breeds with more than 6 entries will be awarded Junior, Senior & Grand Champion ribbons respectively.
Reserve Junior & Senior Ribbons will only be awarded to breeds with more than 1 exhibitor in that breed.
Entries in group classes may be drawn from general classes and are to be owned or partially owned by only one exhibitor.
No animal is allowed to compete in more than one class unless specially provided for.
All cattle are to be tied up with strong halters and fitted with a neck strap.
Any animal which, in the opinion of the Society's cattle steward or breed inspector, is not suitable shall not be exhibited
at the Society's Showgrounds.
Full particulars must be stated on the entry form, including tattoo, NLIS Tag number, and Date of Birth.
It is a condition of entry that there is a total prohibition of the use of hormones in the preparation of stud cattle to be
exhibited at the Show.
Each exhibit must be paraded as from time to time directed by the Society. There will be a Parade on the Beef Cattle
Judging Lawns of all Champions from the Stock section.
Special prize donors will be acknowledged in the catalogue.
Exhibitors, including junior handlers and/or attendants, must wear dust coats or breed uniforms when leading cattle in the
judging ring.
Exhibitors shall, to the satisfaction of the Society's steward:
a)
Keep each stall allotted to them and their cattle in a clean and proper condition throughout the duration of the
Show
b)
Clean out their stalls before 8:00 am each day.
In the event of the Society receiving more entries than can be housed, the Society reserves the right to determine which
entries will be accepted. Exhibitors of declined entries will be notified and entry fees refunded.
All animals must be registered in accordance with the rules of each recognised Society and satisfy the requirements of the
Devonport Agricultural & Pastoral Society Inc. and the breed inspector.
The age of cattle is to be the actual age up to and including March 1 of the present year. An animal born prior to March 1
of the preceding year shall not be eligible for the under 12 months old class. A similar provision shall apply to the other
age classes when calculating the age from the date of birth of up to and including March 1. This condition will apply
except in cases where particular class condition states otherwise.
Calves attached to cows exhibited at Shows are not to exceed the age of nine (9) months from the date of birth and the
date of birth of such calves is to be shown on the entry form.
All bulls one year old or over, shall be rung through the nose (see regulation 22) and must be provided with leading
tackle.

Addressing safety concerns STRICTLY all senior bulls must be only shown or lead by persons over the age of 18 at any
time. Failure to abide by this rule will result in the animal being ineligible to compete in any remaining classes and the
forfeiture of all prizes for that animal.
ELECTRICITY
All Exhibitors must comply with ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS STANDARDS AS/NZS 3002. Power users must
provide their own Residual Current Device on their site and ensure that appliances are appropriately tagged. All
electrical cords must be elevated at least 3m above the ground. Any person intending to bring electrical equipment to the
Showground is requested to ensure that all equipment is fitted with earth leakage circuit breakers and that all electrical
leads, tools and appliances have been inspected and tagged by a licensed electrical contractor. Double adaptors and
piggy back plugs must not be used on power supply outlets at any time. DAPS or its representatives shall have the right
to disconnect any electrical apparatus that may be deemed unsafe or may be overloading service lines. Please check all
your equipment before you come to the grounds to avoid difficulties.
Due to insufficient power supply at Show time, power usage should be kept to a minimum.
Exhibitors who camp in the Lower Madden Street area are not permitted to use power from the Showgrounds.
The cooperation of all exhibitors is appreciated.
UNLOADING STOCK
In an effort to reduce congestion, 30 minutes will be allowed to unload stock. All vehicles then need to be moved to the
street. Trucks are to leave the grounds in the order of those residing furthest from the ground first and closest last.
Loading order will be displayed on the notice board.
Cattle may not be loaded or removed from the grounds prior to 3pm on Saturday 28th November 2015. However cattle
must be removed by midnight on Saturday unless special arrangements have been made with the Stock Committee.
Exhibitors are requested to take special care when completing entry forms.
Please check that your entries are in the correct classes and that your breed is clearly
stated
To ensure sufficient space is allocated, please advise when entry includes a calf. Best attempts will be made to
provide additional space.
It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to ensure that their entries reach the society on time.

National Livestock Identification Scheme
All animals must have NLIS ear tags as per current Department of Primary Industry Regulations. All
cattle must be on grounds prior to 4.00pm Thursday 24th November 2016 for scanning to take place. A
representative for each exhibitor must be available during scanning.

HEREFORDS:
A SPECIAL TROPHY will be awarded by the TASMANIAN PERFORMANCE HEREFORD provided the SUPREME
CHAMPION BULL is a HEREFORD.
MOST SUCCESSFUL POLL HEREFORD EXHIBITOR:
A sash will be awarded by Tasmanian Performance Herefords To be allocated on a point basis for classes won with
the award presented to the exhibitor gaining the most points. Points will be awarded as follows: First place = 3 points,
Second place = 2 points, Third place = 1 point, Champion = 2 points, Reserve Champion = 1 point, Grand Champion = 1
point
BEST MAINTAINED POLL HEREFORD TEAM:
A sash will be awarded by Tasmanian Performance Herefords. This award will be judged over both days of the Show.
Points will be awarded on a daily basis and will be based on cleanliness of both the stalls and the cattle, efficiency of use
of straw etc with the exhibitor gaining the most points winning the award.
INTERBREED AWARDS
Special prizes may be in the form of trophies equal to the stated value.
JUDGING (WHERE APPLICABLE)
The Committee reserves the right to nominate the number of judges in the special inter-breed section. In the case of a
tie, the Society reserves the right to appoint independent referees. Each judge of each breed will be required to
nominate exhibits from stock exhibited at the Show to compete for trophies in this section.
CRITERIA FOR THE BEEF INTERBREED JUDGING:
1. The animal with the lowest score wins.
2. In the event of a draw, a count back system with the most low numbers wins.
3. Judges are to vote for six animals: others receive a score of 7.

ENTRY FEE: $5.50
All entries must be received by
4th NOVEMBER 2016 on the appropriate form. The Society reserves the right to
judge any class in heats and finals. Dust coats or breed uniforms must be worn by all entrants. Cattle must be a junior
heifer born on or after 1 March of the previous year except in the 17-25 year class where a junior bull may be used.
CLASS 9 – JUNIOR HANDLER 9 - 12 years inclusive
CLASS 10 – JUNIOR HANDLER 13 - 14 years inclusive
CLASS 11 – JUNIOR HANDLER 15 - 16 years inclusive
CLASS 12 – JUNIOR CATTLE HANDLER 17 and under 25 years as at 1st May in the year of the State Final.
CLASS 13 – SCHOOL TEAMS EVENT – to be judged on Friday 25th November 2016 at 1.30pm

The winner of each class will compete for the Devonport Champion of Champions trophy. Second place getters from
each age group will be required to be on standby at the back of the ring. This is required should the champion be already
representing a show, then all second places will be brought in.
The local winner will then compete in the overall STATE FINAL FOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS to be held at Circular
Head Show. The State Winner will go on to represent Tasmania in the National Final.
JUNIOR JUDGING
AGE LIMITATION:
There will be 2 sections for the junior judging, judged at the same time.
Class A: Eligible for State Final, All entrants must be over 15 years & under 25 years as at 1 May in the year of the
State final.
ENTRY FEE: - Class A: $5.50
Enter and pay on the day.
PRIZES: First, Second and third places will receive a society sash and donated prize.
Class B: Junior Section: For participants under 15 years.
ENTRY FEE: - Class B: No Entry Fee, Enter on the day
PRIZES: First, Second and Third places will receive a society ribbon.
JUDGING: Friday 25th November at 2.00pm
2016 Junior Judging State Final
Judging of the 2016 Beef Cattle Junior Judging State Final will be held at the 2016 Devonport Show
on Saturday 26th November at 9.00am.
The first placegetter will receive a trophy sponsored by
Waterford Limousins and will be eligible to compete in the National Final.
Airfares to the National Finals are partly sponsored by
AGRICULTURAL SHOW COUNCIL OF TASMANIA.
2016 Junior Judging Competitions will be conducted at Burnie, Launceston, Hobart, Ulverstone, Scottsdale,
Sheffield & Devonport Shows.
