Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee competed in the busy
Chicago to Milwaukee corridor for passengers. What set
them apart from Milwaukee Road and C&NW on this
corridor was that North Shore was an electric interuban
railroad. In addition to providing first class service at
highspeed on the mainline, North Shore trains had to
negotiate tight corners on street trackage in Milwaukee
and Chicago's famous elivated railway (the El) to deliver
passengers right to the city centers.
