ESSENDON players could
walk to a new club
because of the failure
to provide proper medical
care at Windy Hill
last year.
Legal advice to players
suggests they would have
little problem voiding con-
tracts, and could enter
the AFL draft without
Essendon receiving any
compensation.
The club has been
lashed by the players’
association after the AFL
charge sheet detailed a
litany of concerns.
They included players
allegedly being given unknown substances without
prescriptions, circumstantial evidence they were administered performanceenhancing drugs, and a
culture of injections.
Legal and industry
sources confirmed that a
simple letter from a player
manager might be enough
to void a contract given
the accusations.
