Freelance Part Time Game Development Tutor Location: Manchester Posted Date: 1st October 2015 Responsible to: Academic Director Responsible for: Effective planning and preparation of resources necessary for lesson delivery. Delivering course content in an effective and professional manner. Storing and archiving of lesson resources. Maintaining student records on attendance. Attending course team meetings, and tutor meetings. Assessing student work and providing feedback to students. Adhering to SSR policies and procedures on lesson delivery and assessment. Adhering to SSR policies and procedures on quality assurance. Providing all necessary data on assessments to Module Leader or Course Leader. Supporting students through learning and assessment. Hours of work: 10:00am – 6:00pm Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Delivery and Assessment of course: Effective planning and delivery of lessons/curriculum Preparation of course documentation and learning resources Provision of lesson resources for students (and adherence to SSR procedures in storing these appropriately) Provision of academic support for students where necessary Provision of pastoral support for students where necessary Maintaining effective student records, including progress and attendance Assessment and moderation of student work Providing feedback on assessment to students Effective recording of student data regarding assessments Adherence to SSR procedures for assessment and moderation of student work Administrative duties: To attend meetings for teaching staff To assist admin staff with student attendance monitoring To assist with curriculum and course review strategies To assist with documentation and reports pertaining to course delivery and reviews To provide any necessary data to admin, marketing and teaching staff pertaining to course delivery. To oversee effective population of VLE’s pertaining to course delivery To help maintain effective student records and data To liaise with Course Leader to assist in all aspects of course delivery To help prepare material for external moderation of student work To help prepare data for exam boards To attend all staff or course meetings called by Senior Management To operate within and conform to all company policies, procedures and targets, within a general expectation of courtesy, professionalism and promptness. This includes a particular expectation of actively promoting the company’s policies on equal opportunities, health and safety and quality assurance. To promote and pursue the corporate mission and business interests of the company and to contribute to the continued development of the department. Minimum Essential Requirements Specific experience within the games industry (at least 3 years with experience and knowledge of game development with Unreal Engine 4, experience of the asset pipeline, Blueprints system, materials editor, level design and scripting). Excellent communicative skills – written, visual and oral Excellent organisational and administrative skills Experience of Microsoft Windows platforms Excellent numerate and literate skills The ability to work independently and as a member of a team, and to adapt to flexible working methods The ability to consistently work accurately with attention to detail Work calmly in a pressured environment and maintain confidentiality at all times Desirable Abilities Some teaching experience within the creative industry, or further or higher education A UK recognised degree in a relevant subject Teaching Qualification A relevant industry qualification Experience with Unity 5. A good knowledge of creative industries technologies, including experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, 2D Animation techniques, 3D Modelling software (Autodesk Maya / Blender), NVidia PhysX Lab.
