The school has enjoyed significant success in sporting achievements in Sefton and
Merseyside and was named Sports School of Sefton in Summer 2016.
The school has a wide range of extra-curricular sports provision and activities for
children in both key stages. The school is also served by an independent ‘out of hours’
club, JETS which is attended by 15% of the pupil population.
We serve two parish communities and have received excellent support from the
parish priests, Rev Fr. John Cullen and Rev Fr Dominic Curran and the parish
catechists from both parishes of Saint Edmund’s and Saint Thomas’ as well as from a
highly committed governing body.
The school’s parent body are very supportive and a dynamic and a creative PTA has
raised significant funds to support curricular initiatives. Events such as fireworks
nights, quizzes, salsa nights, egg hunts, bingo, fêtes and a discos have all contributed
significantly to developing very good home / school relationships. Parents’ attendance
at curriculum workshops, parents’ meetings and school trips highlight their
commitment to supporting the school in raising standards. Similarly, the parents
ensure that the children wear the school’s uniform and the children are well presented
at the start of the school day.
The school received the Basic Skills Early Years Quality Mark and the Primary
Science Gold Mark reaccreditation in Autumn 2016.
We are hoping to secure the services of an experienced Year Two teacher who can
assist us in our determination to raise standards in the school.
Should you wish to seek further information, please feel free to contact the school and
the administrative staff can arrange an appointment for you to visit the school.
Yours faithfully,
Kieran A Loftus
