UNO Game for Level 4 – Vowel Teams Here is a game I created to review Level 4 Vowel Teams. Each card has both a word and a number. Deal 5 cards to each player. Lay the remaining cards in the middle of the table and turn up the first one. Say the word and the spelling rule that goes to that word (ex: Monday, Three Play Rule). The first player who lays down a card with a word that matches the same rule, or has the same number on it, becomes the next player. (ex: the player could either lay down Sway, Three Play Rule or 1, Amplify, Try Multiply Rule). The two cards are left in front of the first player. If no one has a card they can play, the first player has to draw and then play a different card. There are 3 Wild Cards. When you play one, you get to say the rule you want to change to. The winner is the first to go out, or the one with the least number of cards in their hand when time runs out. If you run out of cards, turn over the discards, shuffle them, and keep going. Kristy Warden Someone then asked: What are the numbers on the cards for? Are you keeping score with points? Kristy answered: Are you familiar with UNO? You must match the existing card with a card from your hand, and the match can EITHER be the number OR the picture. So, if the existing card has a "1" and a "fill", you can either play another Floss Rule word card from your hand (for example, "fluff" which has a 2) , or you can play any other card from your hand that has a "1" (for example "patch").
