Job Description Maths specialist Construction & Technology Salary points: 27 – 38 Starting salary £23,245 All College posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. If this post falls under the definition of ‘regulated’ then we will conduct a barred list check. As part of your role you are also expected to register for the DBS Update service. This is a regulated post. This is a new position within the College enabled by grant funding from the Education and Training Foundation. The successful candidate will be sponsored to undertake a level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE) to start September 2014, and will be trained to be a Teaching and Learning Observer after completion of the PGCE. A robust support network will be put in place to ensure that the successful candidate integrates and succeeds in the role becoming a credible reference for embedding maths in vocational curriculum. Due to the nature of the funding for the post it is anticipated that the successful applicant will complete a minimum three year term in post. Job purpose: To advise on embedded maths in vocational topic areas – primarily construction crafts curriculum delivery. To generate means by which best practice can be realised and shared across College. Duties and Responsibilities: An appointed specialist will be recruited to: Develop resources to assist in contextualising maths in to vocational curriculum Be available to network with vocational tutors Work to be able to directly deliver Functional Skills maths to learners Work to evaluate Schemes of Works and put forward further embedding opportunities Deliver specialist maths CPD sessions across the whole College to both vocational teachers and the Colleges Training Officer team To research and adopt new technologies and digitally innovative resources for delivery. (Working in partnership with LRC Manager and JISC) To become a trained observer and assist in the quality assurance processes linked to contextualised math delivery within key vocational areas. To work closely with the HR team to improve maths delivery confidence and to act as an ambassador to encourage and support maths skill development of practitioners.
