Pre School 6th May 2016 - Lavender Primary School

3rd – 6th May 2016
This week in Elmer Class
This week we have continued reading the book ‘Baby Goz’ and have used the animals
in the book to learn about size: small, medium and big.
The children have been extremely creative when creating masks of the animals from
the story and have practised their cutting skills too.
Outside, the children have been thoroughly enjoying the good weather and have made
bubbles using different racquets’, practised making big movements to music using the
ribbons and have tested their jumping skills from the new structure their created from
the Quadro.
If you have an opportunity this weekend it would be fantastic if you could support
your child to name the size of objects they see.
End of Session
We have noticed that siblings of children in Pre School and Nursery are still using the
outdoor equipment at the end of the session. If you have an older child can you please
keep them with you whilst you are collecting your child from Pre School or Nursery.
Unfortunately staff have a minimal time to tidy up at the end of the session and would
be grateful for children to refrain from getting equipment back out.
Sensory Garden
Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated items for our sensory garden! We are
still collecting plants, stones, rocks and seeds. If you have any items you would like to
donate, please give them to a member of staff.
Visiting the School Field
The children had a brilliant time visiting the school field today; they enjoyed playing
on the bridge and using the sports equipment in a larger area. Due to the success of
this visit we would like to take the children to Tuckers Park after half term. We will
inform parents of a date nearer the time.
Research Project
Over the coming weeks, Miss Carr will be doing a research project with some of the
children and families at the nursery, as part of her Masters studies at University
College London. This will involve making video recordings of some of the children
during sessions, but will not disrupt the day-to-day experience of the children at
nursery. There is a small chance that your child may appear in the background of a
video recording. Only Miss Carr and her supervisor will have access to these video
recordings. They will be stored securely and anonymously and will be deleted as soon
as Miss Carr has finished the project. If you would prefer that your child does not
appear in the background of any recordings, please let Miss Molloy know next week.
Please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Carr in Gruffalo Class if you have any
questions.
If you have any questions about items raised in this newsletter please do not hesitate
to speak to us.
