Project Move, Move All, Project/PO Delete

To set up a Remote Workstation/Office follow these steps.
(Initial Steps, these may be a few additional instructions as this system matures.)
To set up a workstation, do the following steps.
1. Download and install win95ps.exe and force the install to go to the c:\projectw folder (The
System will try to install itself to the network.)
2. Next with no one else in the Network version of Project we are going to copy the following files
from the ...\projectw\data folder to the c:\projectw\data folder on the laptop.

if you are using the logo printing then copy proplogo.bmp
For the salesman that this laptop is for, copy xxxproj.dbf, xxxproj.mdx, xxxfilbd.dbf, xxxfilbd.mdx
where xxx is the three letters of that salesman.
Note the sales man will only be able to bring up old projects with master OFF. New Projects on
the laptop will be found with Master ON or OFF.
3. Next we need to create a new shortcut to start Project local to the Laptop. (This laptop will
have two shortcuts, One to start Project while attached to the network and on to start Project
while disconnected from the network.
With Explorer, find Project.exe in the C:\Projectw folder and create a shortcut.
Modify the Shortcut to add the phrase DATAPATH=C:\Projectw\data Userlist=xxx
Try starting Project with the new short cut.
4. Next we need to configure the Laptop to use different Project Numbers, and Customer
numbers.
Start Project and go to Setup, F&S, SS, General 2 and edit the Project Number be in a different
series that the Headquarters Number Like add 10,000 to the current number.
Next go the to Customer Tap and set the "Prcust Last Used Number to "0" and then at the end,
change the "C" to a different letter for each workstation so that when the remote laptop adds a
client, the customer code series will be different from Headquarters.
After creating Project in the Laptop/Remote office, use the transfer system to move / Transfer
then to Headquarters.

Transfer Project
Contact Dove Net Technologies to Purchase this system.
Transfer Project is used to copy a Project from one office to another.
There are three methods to transfer Project: Direct Connect, FTP and pcAnywhere. If
you are running “Multiple Company”, then you will use Direct Company. If your Home
Office has FTP capabilities then FTP is the best choice. Otherwise, pcAnywhere is a
good option.
When setting up to use the Transfer Project, it will be wise to make sure that Customers
created in the Remote office will have different Customer Codes so that they will be
properly transferred to the Home office. This can be accomplished by setting the First
Letter of the Customer Code to a different letter for each remote office or Sales Person.
See Setup, F&S, SS, and Customer Tab and edit the C1-C26 Field in the “Last Used
Numbers”
Additionally, you should coordinate the Project Numbers created at the Remote Site to
include a default two letter Suffix to the Project Number or else name the actual number
run on a different series from the Home office so that they will not hit each other.
This Transfer System can also be used to transfer Projects from a Laptop to the Home
office while connected to the Home Network. Use the Direct Connect Feature and set the
Remote Data path to the Home Office Path (When the Laptop is connect to the Home
Network.) You will Run the Transfer Project Tool, from the Laptop connected to the
Laptop’s Data and transfer the data to the Home Office Data path.
Transfer Projects
To use Transfer Project, establish statuses to use for transferring statuses. Enter the
Statuses in the Transfer Statuses field. When the Projects are transferred into the home
company, they remain in the original status at the Home office. At the Remote Office,
the Project Status changes to the “Transferred Status. The System can also transfer
Purchase Orders so you can establish a PO Transfer Status and in the Remote Office, the
PO changes to the Transferred PO. Check the Transfer PO check box to make this
happen. If you have an emergency Purchase Order, check the Transfer PO Only check
box to make this happen. Check the Remote Prcust Master check box if the home office
has the Priority.
Options: You can have the system print a list of Projects that are being Transferred and
Received by checking the appropriate check boxes.
If you want to allow a project to be transferred multiple times, check the If you use the
Direct Connect Option, Enter in the Remote Data Path, the data path where the Project
and Purchase Orders are to be transferred. If at the Home Office and you have a Single
Customer List, enter the Customer List Path at the Home office.
Press Start and the system will transfer the Project from the Remote office to the Home
Office. The System will leave the statuses of the Project in the same Status as they were
in the Remote Office and change the status of the Projects in the Remote office to the
Transferred Statuses.
If you are using pcAnywhere to transfer Projects, first check “Create Transfer File” and
check then the pcAnywhere check box.
Next Pull us pcAnywhere and create a Remote Control Item to call the home office
including Phone Numbers any login security as required. In the Remote Control Item,
select Automatic Tasks and check AutoTransfer and select Properties and press ADD and
fill in the screen with the appropriate data. See the following screen.
Example: C:\Projectw\Transfer is a local path in the Remote office. F:\Projectw\Transfer
is where you want the data Transferred to The “Transfer” path has to be created on both
sides of the system.
When finished, the screen will look like the following:
Press Ok and save the pcAnywhere settings.
Next, back in Project, use the “Browse” button to locate the pcAnywhere Transfer File
Script. See the example on the Move Project screen about.
When using pcAnywhere, the system should auto-start the file Transfer System. If it
does not, Press the Auto Transfer Button to start the Transfer.
FTP Transfer System
After selecting FTP, enter the FTP IP Address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx or a Domain Name
(YourCompany.com). In the LoginID field enter a login Name and password in the
Password field that will be recognized by the FTP Server. “Anonymous” will also work.
In the FTP Remote Transfer Path field, the location where you want the data place at the
FTP server.
Press Start and the system will first create files in a “Transfer” Path on the local machine
and then transfer the Projects to the FTP Server.
Import Projects
When using the Create Transfer File method for transferring Projects you must import the
Projects.
Select Import Data and enter the path where the new data can be found in the Import
Path.
Press Start to start the Import.
If a Project has been previously transferred, and you have Re-Number Option checked,
the system will prompt the operate, that a duplicate Project exists and the system does a
re-number to allow the Project to be imported.
If you are using the FTP transfer method, you can create an Import Server that will
automatically import all projects. Create as shortcut for Project and on the Command
Line, put the words ImportServer=Yes. The system will automatically import the
Projects into the Pre-described data path.
It’s important that you pre-set the Import Screen to have the appropriate import
information before starting the Import Server. The Cancel button will save the date when
exiting the screen.
