CASE REPORT NO.: 2|2015
Acutely ruptured basilar
bifurcation aneurysm
Case Description
Female, 44 years old
Acutely ruptured basilar
bifurcation aneurysm
SAH
Prof. Dr. du Mesnil, JOHANN WOLFGANG GOETHE UNIVERSITÄT FRANKFURT
6 months follow up
TREATMENT DECISION
Considerations
Options
• Wide necked bifurcation aneurysm
• Stenting & coiling (Y-stenting)
• Fragile, multi lobed dome
• WEB
We chose WEB primarily for the lack of subsequent dual anti
platelet therapy especially when compared to the alternative
of stenting and coiling. Additional considerations were the fast
stasis provided by the WEB and the ability to treat the main
dome with a unitary device without the risk of further trauma
to secondary lobe which had previously bled.
