and the prices are very competitive. Ask us for opportunities!
Stone fruit
Sizing is very nice and eating quality is outstanding on Apricots out of California. We have both White and Yellow Nectarines available
now in a full run of sizes. Pricing will be very aggressive as the weather improves in California. The Peach crop from Georgia this year is
very short. They had bad weather when the trees were in bloom, and they lost most of the crop. California fruit is available but demand
is exceeding supply at this point. We expect this to ease over the coming weeks.
Also available are Cherries. They are expensive but the quality is nice.
1
Citrus
Oranges
California Oranges continue to climb in price and are expected to remain strong going forward. Looks like we will be lucky
to get through May with fruit. We are currently carrying oranges from Spain as South Africa is off to a slow start and the
shortage of Oranges could be worse than expected. We are seeing extreme issues in loading vessels in South Africa, fruit
is also very short. The US crop will be on final floor counts next week and we will likely be collecting scraps. June will be a
tough month and the pipeline will be cleaned up quickly. Demand will exceed supply.
Juice Oranges
Prices will be up again for next week as we get “storage” fruit in from Florida.
Grapefruit
We are strictly into South African fruit now. While we are currently meeting the demands of the business, this market is firm and we
could see a gap in July if fruit doesn’t make color (same as last year). You should try and stay ahead on your purchasing .
Clementines
Gold Nuggets are available now and they are outstanding!
Lemons
The California Lemon market is very strong, and their prices won’t fly in this market now with Spanish Lemons in house.
This market may be short and I would recommend customers to keep ahead on their purchases for the next 4-6 weeks.
Limes
Supplies are steady and the market is stable. No changes expected.
