GAME DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR COACH/PLAYER Employer Reports to Department Netball WA Game Development Manager Community Netball – Game Development Unit Location Based in Perth – State Netball Centre Position Overview Housed at the newly developed State Netball Centre at the Wembley Sports Park the Game Development unit will have access to world class sporting facilities including state of the art high performance analysis, injury management and prevention facilities, consultancy rooms and recovery centre as well as offices to cater for the broader Netball WA administration. Reporting to the Game Development Manager, the Game Development Coordinator -Coach/Player will be responsible for the operational delivery of coach and player pathway programs, National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) and player development programs which underpin the sports high performance pathway programs in Western Australia Core Responsibilities A close working relationship with affiliated bodies, including Netball Australia, member Regions, Associations, Clubs, other key stakeholders including Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR), School Sport WA (SSWA), Department of Education (DoE) and Tertiary Institutions will be essential to the successful achievement of this position’s objectives . • Promote the purpose and values of Netball WA programs and initiatives within the Netball and greater Western Australian communities; • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and liaisons with Netball Australia, DSR, DSR Club Development Officer Networks, WAIS, DoE Education, SSWA, Inclusion WA, SEDA, Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and other organisations as required; • Implementation of relevant Netball Australia and Netball WA policies, programs and pathways; • Support and promote the accreditation and development of coaches through the delivery of Netball Australia’s NCAS, initiatives and associated coach education programs, ensuring adherence with key organisational performance measures; • With a view to maximising the outcomes for coach and player development and the organisations key objectives support the delivery and ongoing review of the: o Smarter than Smoking WA Netball League o Smarter than Smoking Association Championships o Develop A Diamond Regional Academy (DADRA) and Regional Cadet Programs o Regional Talent Development Program (RTDP) • Assist in building capacity within the Community Netball Department staff and coach workforce through delivery of: o coach accreditation and education courses o community engagement programs • Liaise with, coordinate and support working groups with organisations and key stakeholders as required; GAME DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR COACH/PLAYER • Foster a positive working relationship with Netball Australia regarding coach and player development initiatives, program reviews and attendance at relevant meetings; • Delivery of coach and player development programs and activities to Regions and Associations, as detailed by relevant departmental operational plans; • Identify gaps within the coach and player pathway addressing these through engagement and delivery of innovative and inclusive programs and partnerships; • In conjunction with the Regional Development Officers (RDO) network: o Provide ongoing development and evaluation of regions strategic coach/player development plan o Provide development and evaluation of regional coach education and player development programs o coordinate and deliver regional visits o provide coach education and mentoring to coaches and selectors o administer and coordinate Netball WA’s TID coach and player programs including the Bette Allison Targeted Coach Scholarship Program • Support and coordinate RDO and Association Development Officers (ADO) professional development; • Collaborate with the High Performance and West Coast Fever Department personnel to implement high performance pathways for coach and player related programs; • Assist in the coordination, development and administration of Netball WA’s State: o 17U, 19U & 21U phases o Selectors and Officials identification and training programs o targeted coach and player programs • Assist with coordination and selection of identified representative teams such as NAIDOC All Stars and other teams as required; • Deliver all relevant Netball WA obligations relating to the SEDA contract; • Work collaboratively with all Netball WA departments to promote and deliver all coach and player related activities and programs; • In collaboration with the Commercial, Marketing and Communications Department adhere to the specific requirements of Netball WA’s obligations in all funding and sponsorship agreements relating to the Game Development Unit’s coach/player programs and initiatives; • Maintain relevant records, statistics and financial information relating to the Game Development Unit’s coach and player activities for reporting purposes; • Compilation and provision of information as required for progress reports, annual reports and acquittals to appropriate parties including sponsors; • Assist affiliated member Regions, Associations, Clubs and the public with enquiries as required; • Contribute to, and where required, submit articles for netball-related publications; • Attend meetings and represent Netball WA on various working groups or GAME DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR COACH/PLAYER Key Interactions Competency Area committees and liaise with other organisations and individuals on matters as required; Essential Criteria • Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry; • High level exposure within the sport of netball possessing relevant accreditation in a coaching or wider administrative field; • High level communication skills and ability to elicit cooperation from and work with a diverse group of people/stakeholders; • Ability to work independently; • Proven public speaking and presentation skills; • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise work and maximise the use of internal and external resources to achieve outcomes; • Experience in managing an administrative and field based team; • Excellent competencies in Information Technology; • Demonstrated ability to manage program and wider departmental budgets; • Preparedness to be flexible in respect to work hours and intrastate/interstate travel; • A current “C” class WA driver’s license; • Current valid Working with Children Check. Desirable Criteria • A tertiary degree in a relevant field or experience in a similar position; • Experience working within a member-based association, particularly of a sporting nature; The role is a full time permanent position working 37½ hours per week. The nature of the position requires out of hours and weekend work. A salary package of $50,000 - $55,000 plus Super will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependant on level of experience.
