Preschool Advantage awarded its “Golden Acorn Award” for exemplary quality in preschool education to El Primer Paso
and Little People’s Academy, both located in Dover. The Little People’s Academy award was presented to Director
Carmen Espinosa, executive director of Little People’s Academy. The teachers at El Primer Paso accepted the award at El
Primer Paso on behalf of the school. Preschool Advantage has long recognized the quality of early education at these two
schools. This year, the Preschool Advantage School Committee wanted to formally define quality preschool with the
Golden Acorn Award. The Golden Acorn Award is based on five points of quality in preschool education: teacher and
child interaction, curriculum, family involvement, staff qualifications and professional development, and management of
the school. Jill Lasser, left, co-founder of Preschool Advantage and School Committee Co-chair, and Rick Theoni, center,
immediate past president of the Preschool Advantage Board of Trustees presented the Golden Acorn Award for
exemplary quality in preschool education to Carmen Espinosa, executive director of Little People’s Academy.
