The new www.spaceialnw.eu website can provide you with all the information that you need through a series of statistics, maps and graphics for the North West Region Cross Border Group area. This website has been developed through the SPACEial NW project which stands for Spatial Planning And Collaborative Exchange of information and learning in the North West Region. The online project - www.spaceialnw.eu is funded by the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The project is being led by the North West Region Cross Border Group, a cross border partnership of Derry, Limavady, Strabane and Magherafelt Councils, with Donegal County Council as the lead implementing council for this particular project. Speaking on behalf of the lead implementing Council, Mr Micheal O’hEanaigh Director of Service of Donegal County Council, explained that “this exciting and innovative project has been developed with the end user in mind. We have worked with over 100 users from local communities, businesses, organisations, local authorities in shaping and testing this site”. Ends SEUPB is a North/South Implementation Body sponsored by the Department of Finance and Personnel in Northern Ireland and the Department of Finance in Ireland. It is responsible for managing two EU structural funds Programmes PEACE III and INTERREG IV designed to enhance cross-border cooperation, promote reconciliation and create a more peaceful and prosperous society. The Programmes operate within a clearly defined area including Northern Ireland, the Border Region of Ireland and Western Scotland. The INTERREG IVA Programme, funded under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is worth €256 million and aims to address the economic and social problems which result from the existence of borders. It has two distinct priority measures to create co-operation for a more prosperous and sustainable cross-border region.
