KYSON SPORTS REPORT - Autumn term 16

KYSON SPORTS REPORT – AUTUMN TERM
U9 Boys Football Festival
The U9 boys made their Kyson debuts at
Inspire Suffolk in the Ipswich and South
Suffolk Festival. Despite blustery
conditions the boys competed brilliantly. A
heroic defensive effort backed up by
Tobey ‘the cat’ Howe in goal secured a
draw against a strong Britannia side.
Further close games followed resulting in
a good win, another draw and a narrow
defeat. Fortunately Kyson’s games were
complete before the heavens opened!
Squad: Ben Willis, Max Bailie, Aaron
Gurung, Harry Dolan, Patrick Galbraith,
Oliver Wilding, Sam Johnson, Tobey Howe
U11 Boys Football Tournament
Held at Whitton Sports Centre, 24 school
teams met to compete for the Ipswich and
South Suffolk U11 Football tournament.
Without any opportunities for a warm-up
game, this was the squad’s first games this
season which may explain the slow start
made - both of the opening games were
drawn. As the squad began to get used to
each other, Kyson’s passing play and pace
across the pitch made a significant
difference. The remaining three group
games were all won comfortably. This
meant that Kyson qualified for the
quarter-final. The momentum from the
previous wins helped hugely as first
Hillside and then Bealings were swept
aside in 3-0 victories. With the rain now
falling and the games being played under
floodlights, Kyson faced Hadleigh in the
final. Despite a strong effort, Hadleigh ran
out 2-0 winners leaving Kyson as the
runners-up. Another amazing result.
Squad: Finley Bell, Barney Walters, Ethan
Kelly, Ashton Boswell, Jayden King,
Dominic Magotte, Charlie Atkin, Harry
Amoss, Mantas Sufinskas, Nick Bathgate.
U11 Tag-Rugby Festival
Kyson’s tag-rugby team experienced the
full range of British weather at this year’s
festival which took place at Woodbridge
Rugby Club. Some brilliant rugby was
played in competitive games – the Kyson
team showing great organisation, speed
and skill. Each game played was extremely
close with Kyson winning one, drawing
one and losing two. As Kyson’s final game
was starting, a deluge of rain fell – soaking
every competitor and supporter and
causing an early end to the afternoon.
Squad: Hannah Gray, Scott Hicking, Adam
Luke, David Lindsay-Davies, Mantas
Sufinskas, Dominic Magotte, Emily Elves,
Eva Smith, Ines Green, James Elias, Finley
Bell.
U11 Girls Football Tournament
A week later than the boys, the Kyson
girls’ football team competed at Whitton
Sports Centre alongside 17 other Ipswich
and South Suffolk teams. Full of
excitement, the girls played some
excellent football and showed the ability
to move the ball quickly as well as use
their tactical strengths. Holly Brown
scored 3 goals on the way to eventually
just missing out on a semi-final place.
A fantastic time was had by all – and
Kyson definitely won the award for the
noisiest team!
Squad: Hannah Gray, Ines Green, Libby
Burnham-Slipper, Holly Brown, Lily Gavin,
Nathalie Rizzo, Amelie Parker, Emily Elves.
