UGA Extension Personnel Contract Renewal

STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The personnel contract between the County and UGA Extension expires June 30, 2016. The
contract is renewed every 12 months. The contract requires the County to be billed monthly for
the actual salary, ORP Retirement and SS/Med of one County Ag Agent, one County Extension
Associate, and one Cooperative Extension Coordinator for the period of July 1, 2016 - June 30,
2017. The salary and benefit billed monthly to the County is $5,253.25 with an annual cost of
$63,039.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Approve the personnel contract for the three County Extension Agents.
2. Reject the contract and renegotiate the terms.
RECOMMENDATION:

RECOMMENDED MOTION FOR FINANCE COMMITTEE:
I move to recommend that the Board of Commissioners approve the personnel contracts with
the University System of Georgia’s (UGA) Cooperative Extension Office to extend the contracts
of one County Ag Agent, one County Extension Associate, and one Cooperative Extension
Coordinator through June 30, 2017 with funding to be provided by the FY 17 GA Extension
Operating Budget.
RECOMMENDED MOTION FOR BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS:
I move to approve the personnel contracts with the University System of Georgia’s (UGA)
Cooperative Extension Office to extend the contracts of one County Ag Agent, one County
Extension Associate, and one Cooperative Extension Coordinator through June 30, 2017 with
funding to be provided by the FY 17 GA Extension Operating Budget.

It is time to renew the contract with the Glynn County Board of Commissioners. The last
contracts will expire June 30, 2016. If is important that this information be in this office by
Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Attached you will find a complete budget sheet with the current salary,
benefit rate amounts, contact person and billing address that was listed last year. If an increase
in salary is given you will need to revise the salary and refigure the benefits. The budget
numbers need to be rounded up. If the contact person or billing address has changed you
will also need to update. If no changes are being made you need to have the contract signed,
date and return. If you have any questions on completing this form call Dianne (681-0178) and
she will help you.

It is the intent of the Glynn County Board of Commissioners to contract with the Board of
Regents of the University System of Georgia on behalf of the University of Georgia Cooperative
Extension Service. The contract is for salary,Retirement and SS/Med cost only for three
