KEY STAGE 1 SPORTS DAY 2016
Dear Parents/Carers,
Sports Day will be held on the Heath near All Saints Church on Monday 13th June (if wet,
Thursday 16th June) from 1.45pm - 3.00pm approx.
This year, not only will the children be running for personal enjoyment, they will also be
representing their team. The whole school is to be divided up into either Red, Yellow or Blue
Teams and at the end we will add up the scores and see which team is the winner. (First place to be
awarded 3 points, second 2 points and third 1 point).
Your child is in the _________________ team.
Obviously it is important that, for safety reasons, your child has a full games kit with trainers that
are properly laced. If possible, in addition, we would ask that your child wears a T shirt of their
team colour. This will allow them to be easily recognised as a team member and give others the
chance to cheer them on. Please don't go to any extra expense, perhaps it would be possible to
borrow a T-shirt if you don't already have one.
If it is hot, s/he should bring a sun hat and have sun lotion applied before they leave home. Your
child may bring a small drink of water in a plastic bottle. If it is damp, please provide a plastic bag
to sit on. The ‘Friends of John Ball’ will also be supplying water to the children.
Please sit on the side of the track nearest to the path facing the children and we would ask you not
to cross over at any point during the events. We would strongly request that spectators do not stand
immediately behind the finishing tape, as there have been several near accidents to the participating
children in previous years. There will be a parents/carers race, but please note that you take part at
your own risk!
Please do not take your child away from the event to buy an ice-cream/drink or go home during the
proceedings.

child straight home from the Heath or for them to return to school with the class teacher.
