KRUMLAND, MULLER AND SAMUELSON TIED FOR SENIOR AM LEAD
Eagle – Three players, including the two most recent champions, are tied atop the leaderboard after the
first round of the 17th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship, Tuesday at Woodland Hills Golf Course
in Eagle.
The defending champion, Mike Krumland of Columbus, and the 2012 and 2013 champion, Steve Samuelson of Fremont, each finished the first round at even-par 71 and are tied with Bennington’s Jay Muller
for the lead at the halfway point.
After 13 holes without a birdie, Krumland finished strong, birdieing three of his final five holes to get back
to even-par. Samuelson played steady golf throughout the day, finishing with two bogeys and two birdies, including his second-to-last hole, No. 8. Muller turned it on late, playing his second nine in 33 (-2).
In second place, just a stroke back at 72 (+1) is Brett Monson of Papillion. The 2008 champion and runner-up the last three years, John Sajevic of Fremont finished his second nine in 33 (-2) and is just two
strokes back at 73 (+2).
The 2009 champion, William Lawson of Omaha, is tied for 10th after a 76 (+4), while 2010 champion
David Clouse of Friend is tied for 12th at 77 (+6).
