THE
CHANGE JOURNAL
Take Life All the Way
Change is not reserved for the first of the year. Real, lasting, life-altering change can happen whenever you
want. To earn this kind of change, though, there is one unavoidable step to be taken: You must set goals.
Goals provide an encouraging backdrop to your journey. Along with providing big-picture motivation, a series
of short-term, achievable goals act as baby steps that ensure you’re making progress every single day.
That’s what Living to 100 is all about: Choosing to get a little better every day. Begin forging your path to
progress today.
The Event of the Century
Success is the result of your commitment to daily improvements. This Change Journal will help you hold
yourself accountable for your successes and your missteps. Each of its entries—there’s one for every day
of the month—offers a motivational quote to fuel your success. More importantly, each page has sections
to help you recount the day’s victories, identify its challenges, and acknowledge what you could do better
tomorrow. The next 28 days will be crucial to your success. Use this Change Journal to double-down on your
daily dose of victory.
Day 1
Goals fall short when they aren’t well thought out.
You won’t, for instance, land a tryout with the
Yankees in the next 28 days, but there is a high
probability that you will make changes that will help
you look and feel better. Let’s talk about what makes
a goal…smart.
S.M.A.R.T. Goals
Smart is an acronym for Specific, Measurable,
Attainable, Realistic and Timebound. Today is Day 1
of your challenge, so you will be setting a smart goal
for yourself based on what you learned at the Living
to 100 workshop. For the next 27 days, this goal will
be the focus of this journal. Before setting that goal,
however, ask yourself if it is:
Specific | “Get in shape” isn’t specific. “Work out 12
minutes a day, 3 days a week for 4 weeks” is.
Measurable | What criteria are you using to measure
yourself? Time spent exercising is one. Pounds lost is
another. It can be anything, just make sure you have
a way to measure your progress.
Attainable | Is this important to you? If not, you
won’t make the effort to attain it.
Realistic | Don’t set the bar too high or too low.
Timebound | We did this part for you – 28 days.
Ready to go? Put some thought into it, and when
you have decided, write your goal below.
