Tell us if your area is not sufficiently staffed
Recently we launched the next step of the RTBU Health and Safety campaign which was
Barrier Staffing; however it has recently come to our attention that Metro have been cutting
corners not only for Barrier Staff, but in all areas.
On the stations, there are constant shortages when it comes to staffing the barriers,
opening and closing the stations and much more. In Infrastructure, track gangs are being
sent out with as little as two members.
By cutting corners, Metro are not maintaining the correct staffing ratios that are outlined in
the Franchise Agreement. Metro get paid from the Government for a certain ratio of staff,
yet they are not staffing correctly and therefore keeping money in their pockets.
This is unacceptable and it needs to stop. Your safety is the number one priority.

ensure that staffing levels in all areas are met.
