CLIP ART FOR CONVERSION TO .GIF AND ANIMATED GIF
1. Change clip art to GIFs using Word. Create a new Word document and Insert some
pictures from clip art (or use the three graphics below). Use File->Save as web page to
make this into a web page file. This will create an .htm document and a folder containing
the converted pictures. The images will have names like image001.gif.
Alternate: If you have Windows, there is an “accessory” called Paint. You can copy a
picture, paste it into Paint and Save As a GIF (or other type of file).
Note: The first picture remains as inserted (standard MS Office clipart). The second
picture is a result of editing the picture (control click or right click on the picture, choose
Edit Picture). The third picture resulted from formatting the picture (control click or
right click on the picture, choose Format Picture or Object). The brightness was turned
up and the contrast was turned down – the standard way to “fade out” an image.
2. Use a website (http://www.gifninja.com/CreateAGif.aspx) to put them together as one
animated GIF file called learning.gif . Note: There are several online animated GIF
makers (search with Google for more), some of which allow almost any kind of graphics
file to be included.
a. Be sure you have some pictures ready to upload (these will be the “frames” in
your animation.
b. Go to the website at http://www.gifninja.com/CreateAGif.aspx
c. Use the Browse buttons to upload at least
three graphics.
d. Choose the animation speed you want.
e. Click the make my gif button to create the file.
f. Adjust the speed (if necessary) and save the image
as learning.gif
(Windows – right click and Save As,
Mac Ctrl click and Save As).
