Wallis and Futuna Level of study Applying for an Australia Awards Scholarship Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term scholarships providing students from Wallis and Futuna with opportunities to obtain tertiary qualifications at Australian tertiary institutions. This includes undergraduate, vocational education and training (VET), postgraduate and research levels. Australia Awards Scholarships in Wallis and Futuna Australia Awards Benefits The Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships funded by the Australian Government offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development. Their aim is to promote knowledge, education links and enduring ties between Australia and our neighbours. Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian education institution or regional institution including any preparatory training. In the French Pacific, Australia Awards Scholarships are open to students from Wallis and Futuna. return air travel (for Australia Awards Scholarship awardees) (Note: New Caledonians and French Polynesians are eligible to apply for the Australia Awards–Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships, which are administered by the Australian Department of Education and Training.) a one-off establishment allowance on arrival full tuition fees initial visa expenses (for Australia Awards Scholarship awardees) initial medical expenses (for Australia Awards Scholarship awardees) contribution to living expenses Introductory Academic Program Overseas Student Health Cover or basic medical costs for the duration of the Scholarship supplementary academic support, and fieldwork allowance–for research students and masters by course work which has a compulsory fieldwork component. Applicants for Australia Awards Scholarships will be assessed for their professional and personal qualities, academic competence and, most importantly, their potential to impact on development challenges in Wallis and Futuna. The process is very competitive. Applications are strongly encouraged from women and people with a disability. Priority sectors The priority areas of study for Wallis and Futuna are: Governance; Business studies, particularly small-and-medium enterprise management including tourism, artisanal and primary agricultural sectors; Information technology; Sustainable development; Marine studies and resource management; Renewable energy; Disaster response. Scholarship recipients will generally receive the following: Eligibility criteria Australia Awards Scholarships applicants must meet all eligibility requirements detailed in the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook: http://dfat.gov.au/aboutus/publications/Pages/australia-awards-scholarshipspolicy-handbook.aspx Application dates (for study commencing in Australian or Pacific Institutions in 2018) Opening date: 1 February 2017 Closing date: 30 April 2017 Applications or supporting documents received after this date will not be considered. The application process Required documents Online applications - Australia Awards Scholarships Candidates must apply online at OASIS for Australia Awards Scholarships. Online applications must be submitted well before the closing date. The online application facility (OASIS) experiences peak usage in the days leading up to the closing date and applicants may experience delays. In exceptional circumstances (i.e. a student cannot gain access to the internet), the student should contact the Australian Consulate-General in Noumea to obtain an application form. Curriculum Vitae (CV) Development Implement (DIP) document** Certificates of special achievement or merit English language test (IELTS, TOEFL or PTE) results certificate valid at 1 January 2017 Masters coursework applicants: One academic referee report and one other referee report (e.g. a work supervisor – with referee’s seal)** If employed, the second referee report MUST be from the immediate supervisor / employer.
