LATHAM LASSIES TRAVEL PLAYER CONTRACT In order to participate in the Latham Lassies Travel Softball Program, including practices, scrimmages, games, tournaments, and/or other team activities, a player must follow these guidelines. Any violation of the contract agreement can expose the player to expulsion or other disciplinary action the coach and/or organization deems appropriate. PLAYER BEHAVIOR 1. The player must conduct themselves as representatives of the team and organization at all times. 2. Profanity or sudden outburst(s) of negative emotion will not be tolerated in any situation or setting. The coaching staff will deal with an intentional premeditated outburst or negative behaviors harshly and promptly. Other types of negative conduct, even though unplanned on the part of the player, may also be subject to penalties. 3. The player must at all times in all aspects of their involvement, reflect positively on the team and Program. 4. Sportsmanship like conduct is expected of all participants. Inappropriate behavior may result in suspension or dismissal from the team. 5. All practices, games and team functions/activities are mandatory unless noted by the coaching staff. You must inform the coach of any absences in advance to the date(s) you will miss. If you will be absent for more than 2 consecutive team activities, you must notify the coaching staff at least 15 days in advance to the dates you will miss. Please note that excessive tardiness and/or absences may result in disciplinary action. 6. A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher is to be maintained at all times. Failure to do so could result in a loss of playing time or other measure as determines by the coaching staff. Should your GPA drop below a 2.0 you will be placed on academic probation, resulting in disciplinary action by the coaching staff and/or organization. PLAYING TIME 1. There is no guarantee, stated or implied, of playing time or particular fielding position. I understand and agree to the above guidelines for participating in the Latham Lassies Travel Softball Program. Any violation of the contract agreement can expose the player to expulsion or other disciplinary action the coach and /or organization deems appropriate. COACHES/MANAGERS & PARENT/GUARDIAN 1. Parents and coaching staff are expected to maintain appropriate levels of behavior as an example to the players, coaching staff, organization members and other parents. 2. Parents and coaching staff are accountable for their behavior while attending or engaging in any activity involving the Latham Lassies players and coaches. 3. Parents and coaching staff shall not use foul language towards the players, coaches, and officials. 4. Parents and coaching staff shall not exhibit uncontrolled temper prior, during or following a game, practice, or any team function or activity. 5. Parents and coaching staff shall show respect to coaches, umpires, and players at all times. If a parent wishes to address any issues regarding their daughter’s participation on the team, they should do it during an appropriate time and with respect. Such inquiries should come at a time other than game or practice, and after a 24 hour “cooling down” period. The coach will make every attempt to deal with any issues in person with the parent and/or player, but this should not take place on the field, unless the coach deems it to be an urgent need. 6. No parent or spectator shall disrupt or interfere with any player while the team is practicing or playing a game. 7. When a player steps on the field for a game or practice, she shall heed instructions solely from a member of the coaching staff. Parent involvement is limited to verbal support from the stands. Any interaction with your player while she is in the dugout will need to be okayed by a member of the coaching staff. 8. Parents will not in any way blame the outcome of a game or tournament on coaches or individual players. 9. The parents must at all times, in all aspects of team interaction, reflect well on the team and the program. 10. Parents shall accept full responsibility for transporting their daughter to/from games, practices, or any team function/activity, or make appropriate arrangements in advance. 11. Any coach, manager, or parent(s) under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to transport any player during team competition, or function/activity. Page 2 of 4 12. Parents and coaching staff are not allowed to be intoxicated during team functions/activities. Alcohol use should be done with discretion. 13. There is no guarantee, stated or implied, of playing time or particular fielding position. 14. Each parent is expected to participate and contribute their time and efforts at all team/organization related function, activities, fundraisers, etc. Failure to do so, without being excused by the coaching and/or organization, can result in penalties. 15. Any questions regarding the team or organization’s financial status should be directed to the coaching staff or a board member. In turn, the appointed staff member for the team agrees to furnish monetary statements on a regular basis and maintain ongoing records to address any questions. Additionally, the organization treasurer will provide similar information though may not issue statements to those outside the board on a regular basis. REGISTRATION FEE 1. The cost of registration for the 2014-2015 season is listed below and can be paid online using a credit card or by check to the coaches. This fee only includes the cost to play and 2 tournaments if the team chooses to play tournaments. Additional cost such as uniforms, additional tournaments or apparel will be extra. The fee needs to be paid by November 1, 2014. I understand and agree to the above guidelines for participating in the Latham Lassies Travel Softball Program. I understand that if these guidelines are not adhered to, both my daughter and I may be penalized, which may include expulsion from the team and organization. _________________________________________________ Parent Signature ___________________ Date _________________________________________________ Parent Signature ___________________ Date Page 3 of 4 CONSEQUENCES FOR BREACHING PLAYER/PARENT GUIDELINES Failure to comply with the player and/or parent/guardian contract can result in the following: First Offense: A warning will be issued to the player and/or parent(s). Warning can be made by any or all members of the coaching staff. Second Offense: The player/child will be benched (length of time to be determined by the coaching staff). Third Offense: The player/parent can be asked to leave the team. Please note that the above guidelines are in place to correct any situation(s) that the coaching staff/organization deem necessary.
