Stochastic Principle Space/ Time/ Probability Joaquín Fargas Exhibition Recorridos Maimonides University Recoleta Cultural Center “I looked for you in time and I didn´t find you, I tried on space and you weren´t there.” So simple yet so complex is the need to cross space and time for a real encounter to occur, numberless factors are involved in it. The probability, randomness or even providence, play a major role. Furthermore, diverse sciences such as physics, mathematics and other disciplines try to explain these behaviors through possible laws and theories that, while having important practical utility, are far from being absolute. It is at this point that unknown ways of interaction underlie. Thinking life as a stochastic process allows us to infer and speculate about it. New technologies have extended the formats and possibilities, the devices and communications mechanisms allow us other types of meetings, like virtual encounters. Our life depends on coincidences, in our nature underlies the need to meet with others, to share and be part of moments that transcend our lives. TECHNNICAL DESCRIPTION Stochastic Principle is a specific interactive multimedia installation. This artwork can be addressed in three different technological levels: - 3D Screen and projection On a 3D screen an image of the neighborhood is projected. In the image it is indicated different places where several encounters were recorded. To the side there are 6 plexiglass semi spheres with speakers and sensors that detect the presence of the viewer making the audios of the encounters to start playing. - QR codes linked to the videos - Argumented Reality The work uses the application Layar which enables the visualization of the videos of the encounters when you approach and reach the original place where they were recorded. In this way the space and time are extended through technology and the exhibition area is expanded to the public space. This application works for phones and smart devices. For its operation is necessary to download the application. Once ready, the viewer can walk through the neighborhood searching the points marked on the map of the application. Once found a point, the corresponding video is activated. For the Recorridos exhibition there were 25 different encounters recorded on video and audio in Recoleta neighborhood.
