FIFE REGION SWIMMING COMMITTEE SCOTLAND NOVICE LEAGUES AND FIFE LEAGUES 2016 Michael Woods Centre Pool Morning Session: Warm up time 8.30am Afternoon Session: Warm up time tbc Round Round Round Round 1 2 3 4 - Start 9:15am Start tbc 31st January 2016 6th March 2016 24th April 2016 (tbc) 5th June 2016 Fife Region Swimming Committee 1 Fife Region Swimming Committee – Scotland General Information Age as at : As at 31st December in the year of the competition. Events: Events information below on pages 5, 6, 7 & 8. Entries: 1. Swimmers can only swim in their own Age Group – Clubs entering swimmers in the incorrect age group will have these swims rejected unless authorisation sought from Karen Woodhouse at [email protected] and Heather McIntyre at [email protected] 2. All communications will take place using e-mail. 3. Once summary sheets detailing team numbers have been accepted and collated, entry files will be e-mailed out to the club contact address provided. 4. At the latest, completed entry files must be e-mailed to the Meet Secretary 14 days prior to the meet taking place. All entries must have an entry time; new swimmers will need a time, even a guesstimated time. 5. Amendments to teams can be made up to the Tuesday before the meet, by e-mail. After that date amendments may be allowed up to the Friday before the meet but they may not appear on the programme. On the day, only withdrawals and changes due to sickness will be allowed or, by exception, at the discretion of the league convenor. 6. Withdrawals have to be in at 8.45am and no later than 15 minutes after the second warm up starts, and any changes must quote the event, SASA number, time and D.O.B. of the swimmer. 7. The FRC committee reserves the right to fine any clubs persistently being late with withdrawals and causing the gala to run over time. Teams: 1. Maximum of 2 teams per gender per age group. 2. Clubs may apply for additional teams for each age group but these will only be accepted in writing and are at the discretion of the gala convenor. Any accepted or declined applications will be notified 2 days after the closing date for summary forms. 3. Late entries will not be accepted after the summary forms have been submitted. 4. In the novice leagues, swimmers are limited to swim 1 individual event per round. One member of each team will be selected to swim the nominated distance and stroke on that round. There will also be relays for novice swimmers. 5. In the Fife leagues the aim is to ensure that swimmers get two swims each gala (a 100m event and a 200m or a 50m event). There will be no relays. Clubs can enter a maximum of two swimmers (from each of its teams in the 11+yr groups) in a 200m event (they can both be in the same 200m event or 1 in each). If needed cuts will be made to the 200m events on the basis that a) anyone with a SNAGS time for 2016 will be cut first and moved into the 50m event instead and b) if further cuts are needed the slowest will be removed from the 200m events and added to the 50m event. The nominated events (50m and 200m events for age 11+ and 100m for age 8-10) will not count for team points. 6. Swimmers can only swim in their designated team on the day of the meet; however swimmers can transfer into other teams in later rounds of the Novice/Fife Leagues. 2 Presentation Swimmers who achieve and surpass the Flash Times will be announced on the day and an award will be passed to their club for distribution. Flash Times: 1. See attached information for times 2. Once a swimmer flashes they may not swim the same stroke in the same event at the league in which they flash. Swimmers who achieve the flash time in the Novice events can either swim up an age group or transfer to the Fife Leagues in the next round for the flashed events (but not in the afternoon sessions of the same day). Swimmers cannot swim in both the Novice and Fife leagues in the same day. Points: 1. Points allocation will be based on the event with the largest entry in that age/gender group so that each event is scored with the same maximum number of points. For example, if the largest entry was 20 swimmers in 100m backstroke and 10 each in the other three strokes, all 1st places get 20 points. In backstroke all points are awarded down to 1 for 20th place. In the other three strokes points 20-11 are awarded to the swimmers competing. The clubs not fielding swimmers in that event receive 5.5 points (55 – the total of the unallocated points divided by 10 - No. of swimmers who did not take part). 2. Only two point scoring teams per club (always team A and B). 3. Swimmers who achieve a flash will be awarded zero points. Technical Officials: See page 9 for details of requirements. 3 FIFE NOVICE LEAGUES – 2016 Programme of Events Round 1 Event 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 117 118 119 120 121 122 123 124 Gender F M F M F M F M F M F M F M F M F M F M F M F M Age Group 9 yrs/ under 9 yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years 9 yrs/ under 9yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years 9yrs/ under 9yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years 9yrs/ under 9yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years 9yrs/ under 9yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years 9yrs/ under 9yrs/ under 10-12 years 10-12 years Stroke/ Distance 25metre Backstroke 25metre Backstroke 50metre Backstroke 50metre Backstroke 25metre Breaststroke 25metre Breaststroke 50metre Breaststroke 50metre Breaststroke 25metre Butterfly 25metre Butterfly 50metre Butterfly 50metre Butterfly 25metre Freestyle 25metre Freestyle 50metre Freestyle 50metre Freestyle 50metre Backstroke 50metre Backstroke 100metre Backstroke 100metre Backstroke 4x25metre Medley Relay 4x25metre Medley Relay 4x25metre Medley Relay 4x25metre Medley Relay Flash Time 25.00 25.00 50.00 50.00 28.00 28.00 52.00 52.00 25.00 25.00 48.00 48.00 22.00 22.00 43.00 43.00 Nominated swim Nominated swim Nominated swim Nominated swim Flash times have been adjusted to take account of the need to start in the water from a push off. This will ensure that we have the minimum number of officials required for each meet. No. of teams entered in December 2016 Requirement for each round 1-2 3-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20 or more 0 1 timekeeper 1 judges, 1 timekeeper 2 judges, 1 timekeeper 2 judges, 2 timekeepers 3 judges, 2 timekeepers We need the correct number of judges to ensure accreditation so we have changed the formula. It more closely reflects that set out for ED events. Clubs are reminded that by not supplying the required number of officials there will be a fine of £25 levied per missing official per round. If clubs find themselves short of officials they may make arrangements with another club for a ‘loan’ of an official. This information MUST be intimated to Iain MacDonald, the Gala Officials Convener, to prevent fines being imposed incorrectly. The following personnel who are required to run the Meets will count towards their clubs required number of officials.
