What happens when I am
referred for treatment?

Your GP or consultant will
discuss
with
you
the
possible options for more
treatment and where it might
take place.
If you need a first outpatient
hospital appointment, this will
be arranged for you by our
referral service called the
Guildford and Waverley
Referral Support Service or
RSS.
A specially trained RSS
doctor will make sure the
right service is selected for
your treatment. You can
then choose the best place
to have your treatment. You
can find more information
about your choice of
treatment locations by
talking with your GP and/or
visiting NHS Choices
www.nhschoices.nhs.uk
.
RSS will contact you by
telephone to book any
appointment that you need.
They use the national
computer system called
Choose and Book to do
this.
You will be contacted within
one week of RSS receiving
your referral letter. If we are
unable to reach you by
phone and do not have your
permission to leave a
message, we will post you a
letter asking you to call us.

anything after one week,
