MIPL Finals D5………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..5 In the case of a conflict between MIPL Rules and Division 5 rules, the Div 5 rules shall prevail. 2 1. Roster Limits 1.1. Roster Classification Limits 1.1.1. Any player that has NOT been registered on a RT5, RXL, MXL, CXBL, or MIPL Div 3 roster within the past 5 years may play in the Division 5 with the exception with the exception of any player that played in the 2016 CX5 division and of a advanced family member playing with his/her sons/daughters, nieces/nephews and/or cousins. The MIPL encourages the development of young players and strongly requests that advanced family members respect the developing players and keep the caliber of the game at their level. This division will be based on starter/rookie players. If the committee rules that a player is too advanced, he/she will be removed from the Division 5. 1.2. Roster Size Limits 1.2.1. There may be no more than 6 people listed on a roster but only a maximum of 4 players may be on the playing field at any given time. 1.2.2. It is not compulsory for Division 5 teams to list their roster on the MIPL website before an event. Players can register the morning of the event if their ranking meets the D5 level classifications. 2. Structure 2.1. Match Structure 2.1.1. Each match consists of a series of 3 games. 2.1.2. Each game starts with 5 minutes of game time. 2.1.3. A team scores 2.1.3.1. 40 points for successfully pressing/touching the Flag Station point button. 2.1.3.2. 10 points per opposing player eliminated 2.1.3.3. 5 points per active player on the team at the end of the game 2.1.4. A match ends at the earliest of: 2.1.4.1. The end of the third game of the match 2.1.4.2. The end of any game where one team has scored at least 170 game points during the match, not including penalty points. 2.2. Scoring 2.2.1. Each team scores a total of match points equal to the sum of the team's highest two game scores in the match. 2.2.2. In the event of a tie, ties will be broken by 2.2.2.1. Head-to-head competition , followed by 2.2.2.2. Fewest games played, followed by 2.2.2.3. Most opponents eliminated, followed by 2.2.2.4. Fewest players eliminated, followed by 2.2.2.5. Scores in preceding rounds, most recent round first, followed by 2.2.2.6. Seed into the tournament 2.3. Tournament Structure 2.3.1. Teams will be seeded into preliminary round brackets of up to 5 teams. 2.3.1.1. Each team will play a match against each other team in their bracket. 2.3.1.2. Each team will play each of their games in round robin format, playing their first game against each opponent first, followed by their second game against each opponent in the same order, followed by their third game against each opponent, if necessary. 2.3.2. 8 teams will advance directly to the double elimination round. 2.3.2.1. The (2) teams with the highest average match score from each preliminary round bracket plus the (2) teams with the next highest average match score out of the 3 divisions will advance (wild card). 3 2.4. 2.5. 2.6. 2.7. Overtime Games 2.4.1. If a semifinal or final match ends in a tie, the match will be extended into overtime. 2.4.1.1. The teams will play a one-on-one overtime game. 2.4.1.2. There will be a 60-second timeout between the previous game and a one-on-one overtime game. 2.4.1.3. There will be a 2-minute game time. 2.4.1.4. Each team will select one player to take the field. Advanced Family Members may NOT take the field for the overtime one on one. 2.4.1.5. The first team to eliminate the other team or to successfully presses/touches the Flag Station point button wins the match. 2.4.1.6. If a team receives a penalty, the opposing team wins the match. 2.4.1.7. If the game ends without a team winning the match, the team with the highest preliminary average score will be considered the winner. Forfeits 2.5.1. A team that forfeits a game forfeits the match. 2.5.2. A team that forfeits a match will receive 0 points for the match. 2.5.3. If the forfeiting team’s opponent does not also forfeit the match, the opponent receives the highest of: 2.5.3.1. The average number of match points the opponent scored in their other matches in the current round 2.5.3.2. The average number of match points scored by other teams against the forfeiting team in the current round. 2.5.3.3. A minimum of 85 points will be awarded to a forfeiting team’s opponent. Regular Season 2.6.1. A complete schedule for the event, consisting of the match numbers and match schedule, will be distributed prior to the launch of the event. 2.6.2. Each team will play 3 regular season events, plus the MIPL Finals. (4 events total) 2.6.3. Any team that does not present themselves to a scheduled event will no longer be able to play in Division 5 and the team slot will be offered to another team on the waiting list. No refunds. Overall Seed Points 2.7.1. Teams will be awarded overall seed points at the end of each tournament day. Standing points will be as follows; 2.7.2. 2.7.3. 2.7.4. 2.7.5. 2.7.6. 1st = 50; 2nd = 46; 3rd = 43; 4th = 40; 5th = 36; 6th = 34; 7th = 32; 8th = 30; 9th = 26; 10th = 24; 11th = 22; 12th = 20; 13th = 18; 14th = 16; 15th = 14 All Division 5 teams will play 3 tournament days. Each day will be scored independently with the exception of the MIPL Finals. Teams that advance to the double elimination round will receive overall seating points listed as per rule (2.7.1) The first 4 teams to be eliminated in the double elimination final bracket will be placed from 5th to 8th by their preliminary overall average score. Teams competing from 1st to 4th will be placed accordingly by the double elimination round. In the event of a tie within the 5th to 8th final seeding, Rule 2.2.2 will apply. Division 5 teams are required to purchase MIPL paintballs at each event for use during official matches. Teams found to be using non event paintballs during an official match will, at the discretion of the Ultimate, be subject to a forfeit of the match in question and/or disciplinary action from the MIPL committee. In the event of a tie in the overall seed points, the team that has ranked higher in the most recent event will advance. 4 3. Penalties 3.1. 3.2. 3.3. 3.4. 3.5. Game Penalties 3.1.1. A player who receives a penalty is eliminated. 3.1.2. If a player receives a minor penalty, a judge eliminates one of the player’s teammates. 3.1.3. If a player receives a major penalty, two of the player’s teammates are eliminated. Non-Game Penalties 3.2.1. Non-game penalties are assessed against the match score of the most recent game played by the penalized team, or the next game if prior to the start of teams first game in the current round. 3.2.2. A team will have 10 match points deducted for a minor penalty. 3.2.3. A team will have 20 match points deducted for a major penalty. 3.2.4. If an in-game penalty is assessed with insufficient active players remaining to satisfy the penalty, the penalized team will have 20 match points deducted per player to be eliminated in excess of the number of active players. Suspensions 3.3.1. A player who receives a minor suspension may not play for the remainder of the event in which the suspension occurred and the duration of the following event. Markers 3.4.1. Markers must be in semi-auto mode; one shot per trigger cycle (no ramping or any type of electronic assistance allowed) The markers must also be capped at 10.5 BPS(balls per second) 3.4.2. Any player found using a marker that does not abide by rule 3.4.1 will receive a major penalty. Coaching 3.5.1. No Sideline coaching allowed on either the spectator side nor the pit side of the field. 4. MIPL Finals (Championship Round) 4.1.1. 4.1.2. 4.1.3. 4.1.4. 4.1.5. 4.1.6. 4.1.7. All Teams must be present at the MIPL Final event. Teams will be split into 3 brackets of 5 teams. The top 5 seeded teams with the highest overall scores at the end of the regular season will be placed in Bracket “A”. The 6th to 10th overall seeded teams will be placed in Bracket “B”. The 11th to 15th seeded teams will be placed in Bracket “C”. Each team will play a match against each other team in their bracket. Each team will play each of their games in round robin format, playing their first game against each opponent first, followed by their second game against each opponent in the same order, followed by their third game against each opponent, if necessary. Top 3 teams from each Bracket will advance to a Final double elimination round. Each Bracket has its own set of Prizes. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 seeded teams from each Bracket at the MIPL Finals. No prizes will be awarded during the regular season. 5 05-15-2017 6
