Thursday night after a domestic
issue angered him to the point
where he drove his pickup into his
wife’s car.
McCormick is charged with
vehicular assault, DUI, and violation of the open-container law. He
was arrested and placed on $7,000
bond.
According to a Warren County
Sheriff’s Department report,
McCormick admitted he consumed three 40-ounce bottles of
Cobra malt liquor before the incident. At some point, his wife
reportedly left their Castle Street
home.
As she was driving away,
McCormick got in his Ford Ranger

could leave Castle Street. She kept
driving, turned onto Nashville
Highway, and eventually came to a
stop in the airport parking lot.
Although EMS responded to the
crash, the sheriff’s department
report indicated neither person
needed to be transported to River
Park Hospital for medical attention.

out there was a need for items for
the SWAT team and that’s where it
started,” Mr. Baker said, noting the
departments there were happy to
help with their surplus supplies.
Among the items given to the
local SORT team were helmets, bullet proof vests, face shields and
entry tools such as battering rams.
The items were personally delivered by the Bakers who pointed out
they had a second mission in visiting Warren County, that being seeing the area for possible relocation
once Mr. Baker retires from the

Seeing a need for Warren
County’s SWAT team, members of
a Virginia police department and
rescue squad have donated thousands of dollars worth of special
operations gear to the local team,
delivering it personally Saturday.
“We saw a need here so we were
able to meet that need by looking
around and finding things we
could bring,” said David Baker of
the Norfolk, Virginia Police
Department, who brought numerous items Saturday along with his
wife, Venita Baker, who also helped
through the Kempsville, Va.,
Rescue Squad of which she is a
member. “The police department
was able to supply armor, helmets
and riot shields while the rescue
squad was able to supply the entry
tools.”

called locally, are specially trained
law enforcement officers who
respond to incidents such as
hostage situations, often having to
forcibly enter areas where armed
individuals are hold up.
The marriage between Warren
County and Norfolk came due to a
friendship struck up between local
officer and SORT member Allen
Roberts and the Bakers during the
annual Unity Tour bicycle ride
which is held in memory of fallen
police officers.
