A Nuclear Management Partners company operated under contract to the NDA Sellafield Ltd team score a safety hat trick A project team from one the UK’s largest nuclear projects celebrated reaching the milestone of 1,000,000 man hours without a lost time accident (LTA) for a third time. The achievement of the Evaporator D project team reinforces the progress being made on the new Highly Active Liquid Evaporator, and continues the excellent safety record being maintained by the team. When complete, Evaporator D will provide replacement capacity for the existing evaporators at Sellafield site, playing a pivotal role in the company’s mission to safely clean up Sellafield’s historic facilities and wastes. Project manager Dan Priebe said: “This is a significant achievement, particularly when you take into consideration the challenging environment and the type of construction work undertaken by the project team over the last 12 months, which has included both the delivery and installation of the largest module ever to be delivered to the Sellafield site, the massive Evaporator module which weighed in at just over 500Te. “This is clear demonstration of the team’s commitment to maintaining our impressive safety standards and reflects well on the continued success of a strong safety culture throughout the year.” Last year the team’s commitment to health and safety performance improvement gained site wide recognition when the project was presented with the 'Most Improved Safety Performance' award at Sellafield, in recognition of the year on year improvement of safety performance since 2010.
