Church Workers` Schedule - First Baptist Church Oakboro

Watts
Up??
May God
I want to THANK YOU for your hard
work, your phone calls, cards, personal
invitations and, most of all, your
prayers that resulted in our having 269
in Sunday school last week. Of that
number, 35 were visitors, some for the
first time. Hopefully, many will visit
again, and some will enroll in Sunday
school and join our church. Let me
encourage you to follow up on those
Bless
You!
Pastor

who visited
as quickly
as possible.
Looking ahead to October, there are 3 church-wide
events that I would like to highlight. HOMECOMING is
October 19. During that service, you will be given the
opportunity to come forward and place your Building
Fund offering on the altar. It has been 6 months since I
gave each of you some dollar coins to invest. It has
been a GREAT blessing for me to hear how God has
blessed you as you=ve trusted Him and invested your
coins. Some have earned as much as $1,000, others
$500, and some $100 including some children. Every
dollar given will go toward our debt on the Fellowship
Building. Once that debt is retired, we will turn our
attention and energy toward raising funds for a new
sanctuary.
Our church will join with many other Baptist churches in
Stanly County in an AActs 1:8 Challenge@ missions
conference beginning Sunday morning, October 26, and
going through Wednesday evening, October 29. We will
hear 5 different missionaries: local, state, North
American, and International. Missions is at the heart of
who we are as Baptists, and being informed of what
God is doing around the world will help us pray and
give more sacrificially. Make a commitment now to attend
each of these services.
Also, on October 31, we will all enjoy
our annual Fall Festival. There will
be food, games, prizes, and a country
store. You will have a GREAT time!
Finally, we will start making appointments for our new
pictorial directory. Family pictures will be taken November
19-22. We hope to have 100% participation for our
BEST directory EVER!

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend the
birthday celebration of our church. Invite your family and
friends to join us for Sunday school at 9:45 followed by
the special worship service in the sanctuary at 11:00

imagine will follow in the fellowship building at

we honor our heritage by remembering our beginnings
and look forward to a bright future!
Since people other than Aseniors@ frequently attend and
are welcome at the luncheons and on the excursions,
we have a new name to reflect this: HOPE Fellowship.
There are 2 events scheduled for October, and you are
invited to go. First, meet at the church at 11:15 a.m.
on October 15, to have lunch at the wonderful Rosebriar
Restaurant in Albemarle. Second, we will experience AA

$21, and you must sign up to reserve your ticket and
space. Sheets are on each of the bulletin boards for

The ticket includes a tour through the exhibit as well as
a movie in the IMAX theater.
Additionally, a trip to see the theatrical production AThe
Real Christmas Story@ at Narroway Productions in Fort
Mill, SC, is planned for November 21. You will not want

animals. The cost is $29 and includes dinner and the
show. A sign-up sheet is available for this, and tickets
