Year 2 Homework 16/12/16 Dear Parents and Carers, It’s been another busy week; the children enjoyed visiting The Russet School to watch their production of ‘Cinderella’ and were a super audience. We had a craft morning yesterday where we made lots of Christmassy items but we are still doing lots of work too! Please continue reading with your child at home. Reading every day builds fluency and discussing the content helps with comprehension. Maths - Choose what you would like to do! The activities get harder! 2-D Shapes Option Learn the names and properties of common 2D shapes. The picture on the One next page should help this. Symmetry Draw each of the common 2D shapes and draw lines of symmetry. Explain Option that this means one half is the reflection of the other half. You could fold Two the image and have both halves match exactly. There may be more than one line of symmetry for each shape! Trickier Symmetry Complete the gingerbread man by drawing the other half using reflective symmetry. Use the squares to help you! Option Three Remember – a five sided shape is still Challenge a pentagon, a six sided shape is still a hexagon, etc even if it doesnt look like a regular Shapely Lines pentagon or hexagon (as in Option 1). Any questions, please call in and speak to one of us anytime. Thanks for your support. Sharon Ronald, Wendy Ford, Helen Ball
