SSI Men’s Football Assistant Coach Job Description
Job Description: The job description of the Assistant Coach to the Men’s Football Team shall
include but not be limited to:
Reporting to: Men’s Football Team Manager
Job Specification
Main duties and responsibilities will include but not restricted to:












Advise on the nomination and selection the players
Design and present for assessment and appraisal by the Manager coaching sessions agreed
and implemented in consultation with the Manager
Submit individual assessments of players, both in training and match day situations
Contribute to the overall coaching strategy developed by the Manager
Liaise with Manager on a regular basis and report progress
Identify resource needs and report as appropriate
Support the Team Manager in the delivery of team sessions including the carrying out of:
o pre - match warm up and stretch
o post-match cool down and stretch
Implement a pre and post-game nutrition and hydration plan
On request advise the Manager during games
Maintain discipline as set out in the Code of Conduct
Undertake additional coaching duties and responsibilities as identified by the Manager and
To undertake any other duties as seen as appropriate by the Manager.
Person Specification:
 Have attained a high and recognised coaching qualification
 An understanding of both domestic and international men’s university football
 A successful and verifiable record of coaching players at club and university level is essential,
at a national level is desirable
 Have an in depth knowledge of nutrition and hydration
 Good organisational and communication skills
 Skills in fostering productive relationships within a high performance environment, including
those with players, staff and management
 Knowledge and ability to manage people, resources and information
 A willingness to work, take direction and be flexible is essential and
 A “can do” attitude, focusing on solutions to problems.
Remuneration
This is an honorary position – no salary or honorarium will be paid to the post holder.
Tenure of Post:
The appointment will be for an initial term of one World University Summer Games (Gwangju 2015)
and will conclude at the end of the 2015 World University Games.

Student Sport Ireland affiliated institute (see Student Sport Ireland web site for list).
National Governing Body (FAI/IFA).
Irish Student Sport Governing Body (CFAI/IUFU).
The form to be accompanied by:
o Two passport photos.
o Copy of passport page (passport must be valid to February 2016).
The deadline for receipt of applications is noon on Friday, 21st November 2014. Applications
received after this deadline will not be accepted.
