WFC Managers Guide 2013 - Westside Football Club

Westside Football Club
Team Managers Guide 2013
Your dedication to enhancing junior sport by volunteering to be a Team Manager is
very much appreciated. The Club could not function without you in this largely
unnoticed but vital role.
This guide is intended to provide information to assist you in your role and any
additional queries can be directed to the Club Management Committee (refer to the
Westside FC Handbook), Ian Pickett (Vice President Juniors) or Shane Downey (Club
President).
Ongoing duties
-
Monitor player safety at all times. Report any incidents to the Club
Management Committee immediately.
-
Keep team players & parents informed of team information such as game
times/locations, training time adjustments, wet weather updates and related
administrative details.
-
Organise a half time energy roster (e.g. oranges, fruit, red frogs). Discuss
preferences with the team parents/players.
-
Organise a jersey-washing roster.
-
Liaise with Club Management Committee concerning team matters.
-
Assist Team Coaches where requested. Some coaches like the Manager to
assist with player rotation during games, etc.
-
If you so choose, submit team and match reports for inclusion on the website
or Facebook page. These can be emailed to [email protected]
-
When your team is scheduled for Arana Sports Raffle duty, please ensure
volunteers are aware of it and complete this vital duty. Westside receives
approximately $4000 per season from the proceeds of raffle ticket sales and
is a mandatory part of being members of Arana Sports.

-
Some teams collect additional amounts during the season to cover the cost of
end of season functions. This element is at Team Managers discretion and is
independent from the Club.
-
When Team photos are arranged, ensure all players are present and attired
in their match-playing strip.
-
Make sure at the end of the season, all equipment, jerseys, keys, etc. are
returned to the Equipment Manager.
-
Football Queensland ID tags must be worn at all matches by Manager and
Coaches. Please contact the Club Management Committee if you haven’t
received one.
SSF (U6-U11) Specific
-
In previous seasons we were required to complete match sheets for SSF
players. This is no longer required.
-
For home matches it would be greatly appreciated if a couple of parents
could assist the Referees in setting up the fields and nets, and with the pack
up post match as well.
-
For home matches it would be greatly appreciated if a parent could assist
Canteen staff particularly at half time or full time. Ideally a parent roster
would be great.
-
The Club arranges volunteer referees for your games. If you do find yourself
without a referee, please see if you can find a parent willing to step in.
Junior & Senior Competition Specific (U12-U17, Youth, Mens, Womens, O35s)
-
For Home games, a Club Management Committee member will ensure the
Clubhouse and facilities are open.
-
Your team is responsible for setting up/packing up field nets and corner
flags. These are located in a wheelie bin marked as “Main Field Nets” located
in the Male Toilets. Corner flags are also located in the Male Toilets.
-
Please roster a parent/sibling over the age of 13 to run the canteen
(otherwise the canteen may be closed).
-
Ensure you have a Match Book (available from the Canteen).

-
For Home games, the Canteen will pay the fees. Please find out from the
Referees how much is required and then see the Canteen staff for assistance.
-
For Home Games, you will need to find a parent to act as Ground Official. For
more information on Ground Official duties please refer to the Ground
Official Guide.
-
For Away games, you will be provided with the fees. Please place any left
over fees in an envelope with the team name and date into the Match Fees
box at the Westside FC Club house at the next home game.
-
Prepare Match Sheets (instructions included on Match Books). For home
games, please pop the yellow copy into the Fees Box located inside the main
club house.
-
Liaise with Referees concerning payment and completion of match books
-
Where the team has more than 16 players, arrange a roster for players to
miss games so that everyone gets a fair share of matches (you can only field a
maximum of 16 players in a game).
-
Football Brisbane schedules your referees. If you don’t have referees on
match day, then the rules state that the Home side is responsible for
arranging volunteer referees. Please ask if there is a parent/spectator
prepared to step up to run the game or a sideline as needed. A contact list of
Referees will be available in the Clubhouse however if we have no notice
then it might be hard to get someone. If you can’t find referees, ask the
opposition team. If they can’t find anybody then declare the match
abandoned and inform Club Management Committee. We have a week to
reschedule the game. Referees allocated will show on the Fixture in The
Washing Line website by the Thursday before the game. If you don’t see a
section on the bottom of the fixture details like the picture below then there
are none allocated.
-
For Home games, enter match results in Sporting Pulse (contact the Club
Management Committee for access). For Away games, confirm the opposition
side has entered the results correctly. If they haven’t entered the scores by

the WED after the game you may enter them. Any discrepancy in scores must
be raised with Westside Club Management Committee.
-
If you are using dressing rooms please ensure a parent is with you at all
times to ensure the safety of the players and coach.
-
Before leaving from Home games, if there are no signs of another game, then
please ensure the nets and corner flags are packed away in the Male Toilets,
and the dressing rooms, clubhouse, and toilets are locked.
