Export Group Gives its Highest Honour
at Agri-Food Industry Networking Event
Winner of the 2014 Canadian Business Export Award
Sainte-Julie, April 3, 2014 - Now in its 8th year, the Canadian Business Export Award recognizes one company’s
outstanding strategic approach to international export over the course of the year. This prestigious award
acknowledges the tremendous creativity and drive of Canadian agri-food enterprises which send their products to
markets abroad.
O’Sole Mio
This company, founded in 1994 at its restaurant kitchen in Montréal’s Little Italy before moving to its plant in
Boisbriand, Québec in 1998, employs over 120 people full-time. O’Sole Mio makes pasta products from 100%
Canadian ingredients and, in 2013, distinguished itself through its consolidation efforts in the USA market. This
process has been underway for several years, as O’Sole Mio management personnel attended several trade
shows to meet buyers from large North American food distribution chains. To further clear the way to big store
shelves, they took the initiative of earning SQF/GFSI certification. The strategy bore fruit, as consumers can find a
wide variety of their products at retailers (some under white labels) in Canada, the USA, and gradually in Mexico.
To respond to increasing demand across North America, O’Sole Mio is building a new 185,000 square foot
production facility that meets LEED environmental standards. This plant will incorporate advanced technology
and permit the enterprise to step up its production capacity significantly and introduce products previously
unavailable in the North American market. Development of these new products activates the efforts of significant
resources within the company and requires frequent travel by sales staff to target markets as they meet clients
and stay on top of the latest culinary trends.
Export Group is proud to honour O’Sole Mio with the 2014 Canadian Business Export Award, not only to pay
fitting tribute to its extraordinary performance in the American and Mexican markets but, to recognize the
innovative approach of its products, the investment of its management team to sustainable development and its
commitment to the quality and safety of its products (through SQF/GFSI certification). These are irreproachable
contributors to the company’s success.

We would be remiss to not mention the exceptional work of the two other companies nominated for the award.
They are ChocMod of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, which produces succulent chocolate truffles made to the style and
requirement specifications of their corporate clients, and Olymel of Boucherville, exporters of fresh, frozen and
processed pork products to over 50 countries around the world. Congratulations to these worthy finalists!
