Salam School Chess Club

Salam School Chess Club
Chess is played by hundreds of thousands children across America. Many studies have shown
that chess improves a student’s reading and math skills, logical thinking, and memory. Salam
School will be hosting a Chess Club for students in 2nd through 12th grade. The club will be
led by chess coach, chess teacher, and parent Bob Patterson-Sumwalt. Based on their ability,
students in the chess club will participate in lessons, matches with other students, and
tournaments. The afterschool club consists of 8 sessions on the following Fridays: October 10,
17, 24; November 7, 14, 21; December 5, 12. Chess Club will not meet on October 31 and
November 28 because school is not in session on those days.
Chess Club students will have the option to participate in a chess tournament where they will
be competing with different schools in the greater Milwaukee area. Parents will be notified
when the tournament is scheduled.
