RULES FOR FIRST NAZ DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
THE TEAM
• Team made up of 6-8 players
• 6 players on the court at a time
• 2 girls must be on the court
• Player age must be between 6th-12th grade
THE GAME
The object of the game is to eliminate all opposing players. This can be done by
Hitting a player with a Live thrown ball below the shoulders
Or
Catching a live thrown ball by your opponent before it touches the ground
What is a live ball? A live ball is a ball that has been thrown and has not touched anything,
including the floor/ground, another ball, another player, official or other item outside the
playing field
Round Robin is winner takes all. The tournament is best two out of three. The tournament is a
double elimination tournament. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place teams.
BOUNDARIES
All player must remain within the boundary lines. Players may leave the boundaries through
their end-line only to retrieve stray balls. They must also enter into the playing field through
their end-line.
THE OPENING RUSH
Games begin by placing the dodgeball’s along the center line- three on one side of the center
hash and three on the other. Players then take a position behind their end line. Following the
whistle being blown teams may approach the centerline to retrieve the balls. Teams may only
retrieve the three balls on their right. Once a ball is retrieved it must be taken back to the wall.
Before throwing a ball the ref must blow another whistle.

TIMING AND WINNING A GAME
• Each Game is 5 minutes long
• Unless all players on a team have been eliminated
• If time runs out the team with the most amount of people win
• If there are the same amount of people on each team overtime will be in effect
• Overtime there will be two players on each side of the court (one must be a girl)
• The team to eliminate one of the other teams players will be declared the winner
TIME-OUTS & SUBSTITUTIONS
• 1 Time out per game
• You can substitute players during a time out
STALLING
Stalling is not allowed during games. If a team is called for stalling they must give all the balls to
the other team.
What is stalling? Stalling is when the team with the most amount of players keeps all of the balls
on their side for more than 5 seconds.
RULE ENFORCEMENT
The honor system will be used(Jesus is watching). But we will have two refs for each game. Their
decision is FINAL. If a player is caught arguing with a ref they will be TERMINATED(kicked out
of that game).
CODE OF CONDUCT
1. No vulgar language
2. No back talking to the authorities
3. No steroids (but seriously no steroids)
4. No alcohol
5. No drugs
6. No tobacco
7. You are responsible for your own actions
8. Play with integrity & honor
RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Each team member must sign this waiver
in order to play dodge ball.
Parent/guardian signature is required for anyone under 18 years old.
"In the event a medical emergency should arise during an activity sponsored by FirstNaz Youth Ministry. I hereby
give my permission to the youth ministry leadership of Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene to select a physician
and/or hospital for my son's/daughter's care. I hereby give my permission to the physician and/or hospital to hospitalize,
secure proper treatment, order injections, anesthesia, or surgery for my son/daughter as deemed immediate and necessary
by the attending physician." "Every activity sponsored by this FirstNaz Youth Ministry and Mount Vernon First Church of the
Nazarene is carefully planned and adequately supervised by mature adults. However, even with the best of planning and
precaution, unforeseen events can occur. By signing this form, the parent or guardian agrees to assume and accept all risks
and hazards inherent. They also agree not to hold Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene or its employees or volunteer
youth staff liable for damages, losses, or injuries to the person undersigned."
