Rotary.

ROTARY
IS AN
INTERNATIONAL
ORGANIZATION
Page 4
The world is divided into territories
within which a group of clubs are
associated. These territories are
known as Rotary Districts.
There are, as of July, 2009, 529
districts in the Rotary world in 186
countries and geographic
territories. Our club is in District
7670 which is composed of 44 clubs
with a total membership of over 2000
Rotarians.
Page 5
Rotary International is governed by a
president and board of directors elected
from all over the world. Annually each
district elects a District Governor – but
each club is an autonomous group.
The first Rotary club was organized in
Chicago in 1905 by Paul P. Harris. This
club met in rotation at the offices of the
members - thus the name Rotary. There
are now 33,000 Rotary clubs with a total
Rotary membership of 1.2 million men
and women

OBJECT OF ROTARY
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideals of
service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to
encourage and foster:
1st
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity
for service.
2nd
High ethical standards in business and professions;
the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations;
and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his/her occupation as
an opportunity to serve society;
3rd
The application of the ideal of service by every
Rotarian to his/her personal, business, and community life;
4th
The advancement of international understanding,
good will, and peace through a world fellowship of business
and professional men and women united in the ideal of
service.

Is it the TRUTH?
2.
Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOOD WILL and

You will be encouraged to become a
PAUL HARRIS FELLOW
By
Becoming a Sustaining Member of the Rotary Foundation
For as little as $0.28 per day ($25 per Qtr.) you can begin
your financial journey to becoming a
PAUL HARRIS FELLOW.
The foundation is one of the very few that guarantees
that 100% of your contribution will go to the GREAT
GOOD that Rotary International does in the world.
Page 29
The Club established a 501(c)3 Tax
Exempt Foundation in 2000 for the
purpose of providing a conduit for all
contributions from fund raising and
other contributions.
The foundation was named in honor of
JOHN SCARLETT
a long time member of the club.
The John Scarlett Memorial Foundation
DBA as The Brevard Rotary Club
Foundation is a North Carolina
Corporation.
Page 31
You are encouraged to consider becoming a
Sustaining Member of the
JOHN SCARLETT MEMORIAL
FOUNDATION
You may make contributions @ $25 per quarter,
or at any time that suits you. Under the By-Laws
of the Foundation funds contributed directly to
the corpus cannot be utilized until the balance
reaches $100,000. At that time the interest will
be available for community projects as
determined by the Foundation as requested by
the Board of Directors of the Brevard Rotary
Club. All funds raised by the BRC are not
included in the corpus unless specifically
designated by the Board of the BRC.
Page 31
AN EASY WAY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE
JOHN SCARLETTE FUND TAX EXEMPT IS
AT YOUR AND YOUR SPOUSE/S
BIRTHDAY, AND ANNIVERSARY.
The club always acknowledges these events
in each Rotarians life. The amount of your
contribution is, of course, voluntary.
However, to increase the size of the
foundation’s balance, it is suggested that the
contribution be equal to your and your
spouse’s age, or the number of years of your
marriage.
