The European Parliament and several of its Members helped disseminate information on 112 and the 112 video
created by the 112 Foundation on their websites, Facebook pages and blogs.
United Nations - Geneva
The safety and emergency service of UN Geneva is reachable 24h/24, 7days / 7 via landlines by dialing 112.
Several actions will be put in place to celebrate the European 112 Day:





A display promoting 112 on the "first aid" UN bulletin board within the medical service (balloons, flags or
posters)
Announcement of The 112 Day by broadcast email to all staff
Writing an article on 112 (historic map, knowledge of Europeans on 112)
Conducting a survey to assess the knowledge of 112 and track it for the years to come
Distribution of promotional materials (stickers cards, postcards etc.)

Austria
An event named "Europa Cafe" dedicated to the European Emergency Number
112 featuring MEP Dr. Rübig took place on February 10th, in Linz, at Cafe

Belgium

On Monday 11 February 2014, from 9 am till 6 pm, Manneken-Pis wears his costume of
the European Emergency Number Association (EENA112). Manneken-Pis, the symbol of
Brussels folklore, gets a costume during major events. On 11 February he wears the
costume of the '112 Foundation' to raise awareness of the European emergency number
112.
The Belgian Ministry of Home Affairs This has prepared an initiative part of the larger "no
nonsense" - campaign started in 2012.
The personnel of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Civil Protection agents, call-takers in the
emergency centres and some important partners (firefighters, police, ministry of health, mayors)
will spread the infographic on the use of emergency numbers in Belgium.

Bulgaria
Bulgaria will celebrate the European Day 112 in schools in Sofia, Vidin,

Denmark
The Forum for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (FSB) is hosting the annual 112 day for the 6th time this
year. Politicians, authorities and actors of community preparedness from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the United
States will attend the conference in the Danish Parliament, focusing on the civil protection and emergency planning.
FSB focuses on current and relevant issues in community preparedness in the Nordic countries.
The themes of this year's 112 day are:



Will increased knowledge in authorities' organisational culture and mission benefit to the cooperation
between authorities?
How is learning across authorities in community preparedness secured?
How do you create a trusting communication between authorities and citizens in a crisis situation?

How expensive can quality be in a robust and safe preparedness?
During the 112 day kids and adults are invited to meet the daily life heroes in front of the Danish Parliament. Danish
police, fire brigades, junior firefighters, ambulance services, Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), EOD,
Norwegian police, rescue divers, etc., will open their doors from 11am to 3pm for a day of fun and information, and
for a personal glimpse into the daily life of community preparedness. Among the attractions for this year's 112 day
there are: safety demonstrations, junior firefighting, urban search and rescue (USAR) with rescue dogs, life saving
first aid, rescue exercises in the canals of Copenhagen, and the chance to inspect vehicles and equipment.

Estonia
The Estonian Emergency Response Centre (EERC) is organising the following
activities for the 112 Day:
6.-13.2.2014 - kindergartens are participating in the traditional project of
building the 112 number from snow or on/to the snow and send the photos
about the number to EERC. The call-takers will visit kindergartens and talk
about 112: how and when to call to the emergency number. Although the main
targets of this project are kindergartens, schools and families will be called up
to build the 112 number from snow or on/to the snow. All photos will be
uploaded to EERC's Facebook timeline.
There will be different open days in the context of 112 Day.
On 10.2.2014 an open day will be held in the Rescue School of Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, called "Come
and try to answer to a 112 call". People can see how to call 112, how a call-taker answers to a 112 call and how a
dispatcher dispatches the resources and how the call-takers are being trained in school (pre-registration required).
11.2.2014 people are invited to visit the regional centres (pre-registration required).
The safety days will take place in different cities. The targets of these events are pupils. Police and Border Guard
Board, Rescue Board and ambulance teams will introduce their work and pupils can learn ABC instructions. They will
be taught how to call to 112 in Europe and how to act when accident happens.
Press releases will be send out on promoting the 112 European Emergency Number.

Georgia
On 11 February, an event will be organised, bringing together 15-20 guests, satisfied customers of 112 service, all
ages, including the most interactive user of 112 Georgia official Facebook webpage. All three emergency specialized
vehicles (patrol police, ambulance and fire/rescue) will attend, and 112 Georgia will create a photo-gallery of the
demonstration.
On the 112 Georgia official Facebook webpage, two competitions will be running: the first one will be asking users to
send various stories related to 112 starting January which will enter a competition and the best story will be chosen.
The second one will be announcing a photo competition related to 112 lasting for 2-3 weeks in January 2014. The
best 10 photos will be chosen for an exhibition during the European 112 day on 11 February 2014. All winners will
be invited to the event and awarded special gifts.
112 Georgia will make a presentation "from 2013.11.02 to 2014.11.02" for the guests outside the 112 service
structure which will explain what kind of innovative projects have been developed for the improvement of 112.

Greece
Greece has produced three different posters with information on 112, targeting
different groups of citizens. Also, three videos were produced to promote 112
by the European Commission Representation in Greece and they were
nominated for the Outstanding Education on 112 Award.
Two Civil Protection vehicles (Vans), which are also Mobile C.P Centers (ie. they
carry special equipment for making communications feasible in case of major
disasters), with "112" logos , will be parked for 12 hours in major squares in
Athens (Syntagma Square) and Piraeus cities and emergency services'
personnel in uniforms (Police, Fire Brigade, Emergency Medical Services and
Coast Guard) will distribute "112" leaflets and inform the public about the
benefits of using "112" number.

Iceland
In Iceland, the theme of the 112 Day is "Outdoor emergencies". There will be an 8 page center article in Iceland's
largest Newspaper, with approximately 80% reading in Icelandic homes. Topics include: accident preparedness,
safety on the road, on the hike on the sea and how to know where one is etc. In Iceland, everyone knows 112, but
the problem starts when people are asked "Where are you".

Italy
Lombardia: Varese and Milano
A visit for journalists to the PSAP 1 in Milan is organised and a press release will
be disseminated. The activities organised will involve mainly the PSAPs in
Varese and Milano.

Republic of Kosovo
The REOC 112 in Prizren will be visited by g school children and students of grade
5 (elementary school). The preschool institution 'Fatosat e Prizrenit' in cooperation
and coordination with NGOs PPV have designed and prepared an acting role when
citizens call the emergency number 112.
More than 80 members of all ages and professional back-grounds, from pre-school
children, primary school students, teachers and educators, to responsible REOC
112 centres operators, fire-fighters and rescuers, representatives of CSOs, local

Conducted by volunteers, this campaign is expected to improve the education of children and students in Kosovo
when using the emergency number and the awareness of 112 emergency communications' role in Kosovo and
Europe. The result of this campaign is that the REOC has decreased the number of false calls with 30 - 38% within a
year.Through the placement of news in the local media and on the Internet, it can be concluded that basic
knowledge about emergency number 112 in the country has increased in mass by 15-25%.
The project consists of presentations in schools and educational institutions, media publications etc:

- Artistic productions associated with the European 112 Day 2014,

Latvia




The 112 Call Centre of the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia will organise the following activities:
Open doors day to meet call-takers in 112 emergency call centres for childrens 8-13 years old
Prizes for journalists who have written about 112 emergency call centres
Information dissemination in the press about the European 112 Day
Netherlands
The Netherlands is preparing a Facebook campaign and a famous Dutch cartoon
writer drew an emergency situation during a ski-holiday containing the
message: emergency call? 112 wherever in Europe.
The text is left out and the public is asked via Facebook to think of a funny or
good text in the cartoon. A few winners will be chosen and the cartoon writer
will draw the cartoon with the text of the winners. The winners will receive a
framed drawing.
Drawings will be posted on Facebook. The Police, fire department and
ambulance will also help reach as many people as possible.

Slovakia
PSAPs in all 8 regions of Slovakia will organise the following types of activities:

Slovenia
The Slovene Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief is planning the following activities:





Radio add through the whole day with a moto '112 saves lives'
Invite kindergartens and schools to visit the PSAPs and arrange visits of call takers to kindergartens and
schools
Hand out 112 leaflets and posters
Arrange visits of firemen and other rescue services including divers and mountain rescue to kindergartens
and schools
Arrange a press conference at which to present the test version of e-call and smart locator application for
smart phones

Galicia
The official website of the regional government has published information about the celebration of the 112 Day all
over Europe and the PSAP Chief Officer will be taking part in two interviews on radio and television talking about the
benefits of using the number 112 for emergencies.

Sweden
SOS Alarm will focus on 112-information through digital channels. SOS Alarm will also advertise in Dagens Nyheter,
one of Swedens biggest newspapers, both in the paper edition and the digital version.
Several banners with 112-messages have been produced and will be distributed in SIS Alarm digital channels, such
as website, intranet and social media-channels. These banners will also be sent to partners and NGO's all over the
country and all Sweden's municipalities. They will be invited to use these banners as well.
Politicians and media are invited to the 112-central in Stockholm to hold information sessions about the 112-system.
