Class Level Design Class level design involves the development of all major documentation required for approval by the nominated Classification Society and Flag State. By bringing together engineering from all disciplines under a single roof, BMT has successfully delivered Class approved designs for vessels from 9m to 220m in length, covering speed ranges from 12 to 60 knots. 1 Having worked with all the major Classification Societies BMT brings significant depth of knowledge in achieving full Class approval in the most efficient and effective manner. With each Society having its own particular nuances, BMT has the insight required to engage Class in educated discussions at the appropriate junctions to ensure that designs are developed efficiently but not over engineered. Where designs do not fit within existing regulatory frameworks we work closely with Class and Flag to agree compliance based on equivalent levels of safety. The above capability, linked with our experience in pre-contract design allows us to offer single source engineering for development of all naval architecture, structural, mechanical and outfit aspects to meet the most demanding rule requirements. Where appropriate we integrate a high level of production-ready detailing into our Class level designs, thereby enabling rapid progression into production engineering and saving the shipyard valuable time and cost. 2 3 BMT produces high quality Class level drawing packages and vessel specifications which can be used for vessel cost estimation, contract discussions or further detail design development by the shipyard. 4 1 38m High Speed Passenger Catamaran 2 20m WSV for Njord Offshore 3 220m Fast Feeder Container Ship 4 Class Level Design Drawing BMT Nigel Gee Ltd Building 14, Shamrock Quay, William Street, Southampton SO14 5QL United Kingdom Telephone: +44 (0)23 8022 6655 Email: [email protected] www.bmtng.com BMT NG03 October 2013
