SECTION III – FINANCES Many people have questions about the process of raising financial support. Embracing the Navigators fundraising process is considered to be a valuable part of the training that you will receive. The fundraising experience often challenges us to trust God, to involve more people in prayer and financial support of our spiritual development, and prepares/equips for possible mission projects in the future. Also, in light of a difficult economy and tight job market, we are recommending that you be willing to consider raising some 4 funds should work hours be limited for some reason on your summer job in Jacksonville. Do you plan to raise financial support? Yes ____ No ____ I’m not sure ____ Because of the extra training you will receive and the extra time needed to prepare and invest in your team, you will only work part-time. Will this cause a problem for you financially? Yes ____ No ____ Do you have any special concerns in regard to fundraising? SECTION IV – JOBS/WORK EXPERIENCE Many people also have questions about the process of finding a job for the summer. Team leaders work 20 hours/week in Jacksonville. Each summer we have several employers who have hired students in the past and would like to connect with this year’s JAX participants. Our jobs coordinator will be in contact with these businesses to confirm availability and job placement. We will make these jobs available to students on a firstcome, first-serve basis via email in the spring. We also encourage students to search for jobs that might fit their interests or major. The only boundaries to this job search is that we ask students NOT work after 5 pm or on the weekends to ensure full availability for the program activities. We also recommend searching for jobs located near the University of North Florida where we will be staying. All jobs must be approved by the Navigator staff jobs coordinator. Be assured that you will receive more information about the job search and placement process after you have been accepted. Due to the fact that students at the program represent not only the Navigators’ summer program but also are an ambassador for Christ, we ask that you be willing to commit to work hard with a positive attitude at whatever job you might have for the summer. We also ask that every student prepare and submit a basic resume that includes past work experiences. If you have questions about this, please see the resume example found online at jaxstp.org/apply. Have you had and maintained a job before? Yes ____ No ____ Maybe ____ Are you willing to maintain a job for 20 hours/week and work hard with a positive attitude? Yes ____ No ____ Maybe ____ Do you have any physical limitations that may impact the kind of job you can get? If so what? Do you have any special concerns in regard to jobs? SECTION V – STATEMENT OF FAITH If approved as a Team Leader at Jax Summer Training Program with The Navigators, I will fully accept and adhere to the Statement of Faith, mission statement, and religious, spiritual, and moral policies, principles, and standards of The Navigators. 5 Our Statement of Faith: We Believe: That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. In one God, the Creator; eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and that He was and remains true God and true man. That God created Adam and Eve in the divine image; that they sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that, as a result of Adam's sin, all human beings are now born with a sinful nature and stand guilty before God. That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. In the blessed hope of the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That all who by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. That the Holy Spirit indwells and gives spiritual life to all believers, enables them to understand biblical truth, empowers them for godly living, and equips them for service and witness. In the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
