What Would YOU Do?
If someone killed a person you love?
If you were accused & convicted of a crime you did not commit?
Presenting…
VOICES of EXPERIENCE
7pm, Friday, February 24, 2012
St. Mark's on the Hill Episcopal Church
1620 Reisterstown Rd, Pikesville, MD
Exit 20 South from 695 beltway, church is 1/2 mile on the right.
YOU are invited to hear two extraordinary individuals share their harrowing experiences and their
path to redemption, forgiveness & healing.
Kirk Bloodsworth was wrongly convicted and sentenced to death in Maryland for a crime he had
nothing to do with. An honorably discharged Marine and lifelong Waterman on the Chesapeake Bay,
in 1993 he became the first person exonerated and freed from death row in the United States using
DNA technology. “If this can happen to me it can happen to anyone.”
Bonnita’s husband Michael was killed in a convenience store robbery in March 1994. His murder left
Bonnita and their four sons to navigate the system and get the help they needed to survive. “All of us
were devastated,” says Bonnita, “and my faith and family and friends were a tremendous support. I
believe in forgiveness and redemption. Not all victims’ families seek death.”
The Maryland legislature is considering a bill to repeal the death penalty and is also looking at ways to better
meet the needs of murder victims family members in our communities. St. Mark’s on the Hill Episcopal Church
and Maryland Citizens Against State Executions are pleased to present these powerful Voices of Experience,
and invite you to learn more about the issues now before our policy makers in Annapolis.
