Dear Parents/Carers,
As we come to the end of our Autumn Term, I don’t know where the time has gone. The children have
worked tremendously hard this term and we are very proud of them all. Thank you to our dedicated
staff team who help to make our school such a special place. Having worked hard all term, the
children will be ready for a break and the opportunity to recharge their batteries.
The Christmas fair was a huge success and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone
who helped in any way to make this yearly festive event such a great afternoon. We are pleased to say
that thanks to all of your continued support we raised an amazing £2,594.40.
In the last 2 weeks the children in Reception and year 1 and year 5 have presented their Christmas
plays to parents, family and friends. We enjoyed the wonderful singing that we have come to expect
at Cranleigh C of E Primary and every child took part, well done all of you.
On Wednesday evening year 5 and 6 children sang beautifully at the Rotary Carol Service. It was a
delightful evening and our thanks go to the children who did us proud. Also a big thank you to Georgie
Hendy, Pamela Newman-Horwell, Linda King and Jill Saunders who have been leading the rehearsals in
school this term. We had a mixture of traditional and more modern carols and again the voices were
wonderful.
Next Wednesday 14th December at 5.30 pm we will be holding our annual school carol service at St
Nicolas Church. It would be lovely to see you there to join in our Christmas celebrations. Afterwards
the Friends will be hosting a mince pie and mulled wine get together at our lower school site.
In our final two weeks we have a pantomime for the whole school on Tuesday 20th December and
Christmas lunch on Tuesday 13th December. On the Christmas lunch day the children can come into
school wearing Christmas jumpers and/or accessories like reindeer antlers and tinsel.
Staffing News
Mrs Rook and Miss Holmes will be leaving us at the end of term to be nearer to their families. I would
like to thank them for their commitment to Cranleigh Primary and I know they will be missed. I am
sure you will join me in wishing them all the best for the future. I am delighted to announce that we
have recruited Jonathan Beckett, an experienced practitioner, who will join us in the Spring term. He
will be Neptune's class teacher. We are looking forward to welcoming Jonathan to our school.
Finally I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year. We look forward to
welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 3rd January.
Sarah Albery
Headteacher
Anne Milton MP
We were delighted to have a visit today from Anne Milton who came into school to award Jacob
Hedges a prize for designing her Christmas card. Many children across the area entered this and
Jacob’s design has been chosen. Well done Jacob.
Parking Issues
Please can I remind you that no parents should be using the staff car parks on
either site for pick-ups/drop offs or meetings. Could parents also refrain from
using the bus parking outside upper school as this puts children in danger when
getting on and off the bus.
Parking in the Church Car Park
Can I please remind parents to park considerately in the Church car park for lower school. This will
ensure that both children and adults remain safe when walking through the area before and after pick
up and drop off. Also, we wish to remind you not to park on footpaths as this is making it difficult for
wheelchairs and pushchairs to pass through the car park.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
Scooters & Bikes
Please can I remind you that scooters should not be used on playgrounds for health and safety
reasons. In addition please can we ask children to be careful scootering and cycling between sites. At
pick up on our upper school site please can all siblings and children stay on the front playground and
away from classes as learning is still taking place.
Thank you for your co-operation and support.
Visit to Santa Fir
On Monday 21st November Head Boy, Eddie Moran and Head Girl, Izzy Cook along with Ms Newman
went to collect the Christmas trees to display in our school, which were secretly decorated after
school to surprise the children the following day! They had a wonderful time and were shown all
around the Santa Fir Christmas tree farm, and even introduced to the much loved reindeer family
including two new baby ones called Neil and Todd!
Santa Fir very kindly donated the two trees for upper and lower school and we are incredibly grateful
to them for their generosity.
Christmas Carol Service
Carol Service – Wednesday 14th December – 5.30 pm.
The service will be held in St Nicolas Church, led by the year 6 children.

Everyone welcome.
