Just a remark:
A good law
doesn‘t need
many paragraphs
and many words
to be
sustainable and
longlasting.

The EU-regulation
overburdens the EU-insurances
Paradigm 1
Similar to BCBS 239 for EU-Banks,
QRT is one of the most important
regulations for insurances.
For them it‘s better to be complient,
in all parts, and always.
Ulrich Schniedermeier, 2U-IT, Germany,

Shifted Paradigm 1
QRT can be mangaged
Not enough time?
Not enough people?
You only need
a fitting system,
then it‘ll work with
the EU-regulation.

FLAOR = „Future Looking Assessment
of Own Risks“ is only Science Fiction!
Paradigm 2
A FLAOR is a bespoke strategic analysis process which
links together the outputs of risk, capital and strategic
planning, to determine the current and future capital
requirements of the firm based on the business strategy
and environment.
The FLAOR therefore requires a multi-functional
approach.
And that kind of approach needs OPTIQUE,
otherwise it really might be Science Fiction.
Ulrich Schniedermeier, 2U-IT, Germany,
2016
6
Shifted Paradigm 2
Practise FLAOR in the
OPTIQUE way!
And in future
you will see,
the risk affecting
your competition
instead of your company.

Migration is too expensive
to be considered!
Paradigm 3
• (Too) many proprietary systems
• E.g. Legacy Systems are problematic
– Lack of overview
– Too many expensive processes in parallel
• Migration-cost to another Legacy System is
between 25 € to 50 € per insurance policy.
• Using the IWB for interlinking and controlling
is a good and much cheaper alternative.

Big Data don‘t Need
a Special Kind of Security!
Paradigm 4
• BigData contains more structure, links and meaning
than average data-/ information- resources. That makes
it a most attractive loot for attackers.
• In our R & D we came to the point that we still see
encryption as most important for digitally signing or
sealing.
• But there must be no conflict between data analysis and
data security; we tackle that topic.
• Yes, it is a fact that we work at replacing the “classic”
encryption by other security means.
This is our own paradigm shift.

Shifted Paradigm 4:
Big Data Needs Big Security,
a special big security, like the one

Never change a running system!
No need to touch a Data Warehouse.
Paradigm 5
Structure of data warehouses is older than 30 y.
=> Windows 1.0 from 1985
=> 1st CeBIT-exhibition 1986
Never change a (well) running system
but do change a system
if it is overaged and lacks efficiency

Shifted Paradigm 5
Data Warehouse (DW)
• We evolve DWs from competing repository concepts, to
include fully enabled data management and information
processing platforms.
• These new DWs force a complete rethink of how data is
manipulated, and where in the architecture each type of
processing occurs that supports transformation and
integration.
• It also introduces a governance model that is only loosely
coupled with data models and file structures, as opposed to
the very tight, physical orientation used before.

… and more Paradigms to be shifted
like
• Behavioral pricing
– problem => lack of data
• BPO of Back Office Functions
– problem => parametrizing effort
• Increase the level of security quickly
– solution => semantic security

Progress with Big Insurances
• Many IT people say most of the
Insurances are very oldfashioned.
• Maybe
• But: many officers of the biggest insurances are
ready for paradigm shifts.
• They started to accept information as the insurances’
most valuable assets.
• So let‘s take insurances into panOPTIQUE
and make them the most progressive and focused
insurance companies worldwide.
