Patient Experience
A Self-Service Approach to Healthcare
Cerner Self-Service Kiosk
Did you know that 8 in 10 patients are more likely
to choose a healthcare provider that allows them
to manage their healthcare experience - such as
scheduling appointments, registration and bill
payment - using self-service?* This number is likely
to grow as consumers become increasingly
comfortable with serving themselves in all
industries — including healthcare.

The NCR Corporation
kiosk streamlines the
patient experience
through a self-service
approach.
Kiosks can be placed
anywhere within a
healthcare facility for
patient use.
In partnership with NCR, Cerner offers the leading
self-service patient registration solution that
addresses patient expectation for greater control by
automating routine processes that can sometimes
bottleneck a healthcare facility, such as patient
check-in, consent form authorizations, and
payment collections for insurance co-pays.
Through the placement of easy-to-operate, selfservice kiosks, patients can initiate the check-in
process by using an identification card to reduce
wait times and errors. There are no limits to where
these kiosks can be located, making them ideal for
placement in large hospital environments to smaller
individual physician’s offices.

Way-Finding features help patients find their
way to specific facilities and locations within the
healthcare facility by displaying maps and
directions. At the kiosk, hospital staff and
volunteers can print easy-to-read directions for
individuals who ask for directions.
Capturing consent forms electronically offers
several benefits for healthcare facilities, including
reducing costs associated with printing,
duplicating, filing, storing and retrieving consent
forms. The self-service kiosk allows patients to
read the information and sign the forms using an
electronic signature pad. This solution provides an
accessible record of forms that have been signed
so patients are not required to sign duplicate forms
at every stop in the healthcare process. Forms are
kept current and can be set up to send alerts to
patients and staff when forms have expired. Signed
forms can be securely stored within Cerner
ProVision™ Document Imaging.
Cerner can help organizations within the
healthcare industry achieve an effective balance
between minimizing the technological investment
and maximizing the usefulness of the necessary
hardware. Cerner offers a total turnkey approach
to meeting your hardware, application and services
needs. We consider ourselves your partner and will
act as a single point of contact for all your
technological needs.
Co-Pay Collection
With this feature in place, patients can use a credit
card of choice to pay their required co-payments at
the kiosk. It can also inform the patient of any
outstanding balances. The self-service kiosk can
print out payment receipts, as well as alert staff
