2. Get a decent small usb pen drive best bellow 4Gb, format it to FAT32
3. Connect box to sat cable, rj45 cable, Hdmi cable, power lead.
4. Turn your box on. Follow the install details on screen. (if the directions are in a foreign language

net ip address.
5. Download the 3 programs coreftp and putty as well as Dreambox edit.
6. copy the putty.exe program to your desktop. Click it
Enter your boxes ip address, click on the telnet button, enter your name of your box in the “saved
sessions” then click save. Then click open.
On the login section type root
Some images come with a password set. Most don’t. enter the password if required. Once you see the
root@zgemma-star-h1:~ you can set various things like your own personal password this is highly
recommended to stop other people from logging into your box from the internet.
Setting your own password type passwd not password!
If you have typed it correctly it will ask you to enter your new password twice just follow the on screen
prompts.
If you managed to enter your password correctly twice you will get a screen like this.
Now you have set your password you can now send over some files i.e. cccam 2.3 they are normally in a
ipk file format.
Open the core ftp program
Enter your boxes ip address
root in the username
and your password you set in the password section
press connect
Top left is site manager you can set your boxes ip address in there.
Two to the right is reconnect if you loose connection.
Bellow the site manager icon is the dir tree this is a quick way to find the correct drive on your pc.
The circle type icon is the refresh your dir. The blue dir icon is so you can create a new directory.
The big x is a delete icon.
The blue folder with a arrow pointing up lets you move up the directory tree.
Click on the etc directory
If you have an Open pli image you will find your cccam.cfg in /etc
If you have an Open ATV image you will find it in /var/keys
Right mouse click on the cccam.cfg
Click on the edit button
Click ok
You must click on the always this set the default program to the notepad
In the notepad above you will see a cline. The topline is a demo cline. The server.no-ip.org is your web
address the 12345 is your port setting for the cccam server, the zgemma is the username and the
mypassword is the password the no just let the cccam program not to forward emm to the server.
If you are using oscam as your softcam you will find this in
OpenPLI in /etc/tuxbox/config
OpenAtv in /var/keys
Click on the config dir
Here we see the 4 files needed to make oscam work
The oscam.server holds the detail like in the cccam, cfg
If you are using the openatv image you need to look in the /var directory
In the /var/keys you will find your cccam.cfg or your oscam.server and other oscam files if you use
mgcamd they will be in the /var/keys directory aswell.
If you want to use mgand to talk to a cccam server all you need to do is instal mgcamd and copy the
content of your cccam.cfg to the cccamd.list
If you require picons to work on your box you have to place them in /usr/share/enigma2/picon
The problem is there is no directory set yet. You need to go to /usr/share/enigma2/
And make a directory
Click on the blue folder icon with a + on it to create a new folder in the enigma2 directory. Name the
folder picon Do not name it picons.
It would be a very good idea to restart the box once you have saved the picon folder.
Once you have restarted and reconnected your box you can place the bouquets and picons.
Install dreambox edit. Click on the desktop icon start the program.
On the first time you run dreambox edit you will get this screen just click no to never see it again.
The icon across the top tell you what you can do.
Next click on the Setup icon.
The type of box you have is a enigma2. Make sure you click the Enigma2 button.
The path to your new directory you made on your set top box needs to be set in dreambox edit.
The directory is /usr/share/enigma2/picon
You also need to point dreambox edit to the directory where you stored your picons.
If you have more than one set top box in your house you can add multiple profiles. You only need to
click on the new profile twice then rename it change the details remembering to change the ip address to
the new box ip.
In settings you will find a tab called Picon. Click on this you need to tell dreambox edit where you store
your picons and set the size. And don’t forget to tick the Show picons for services in bouquets list.
Then click save.
Next go back to the main screen click on the File folder icon. Point this to the folder where you store
your bouquet files.
Once you have set your bouquet folder it will load all the files into dreambox edit and it should look a
bit like this.
On the left is the individual channels on the far right is your own folders or favs you set your self.
If you want to add a fav just right mouse click and from the menu add a new fav. Then rename it to what
you want. Then you populate it by finding the channels you want to place in it and right mouse click on
the channel and drag and drop it in the new fav you made do this for all the new channels you want. You
can also move up and down the channels in your favs to what ever order you want.
On the right the ENTERTAINMET fav is highlighted I have selected a channel I want to add, I right
mouse clicked on it and selected add a service. This will be added to the bottom of ENTERTAINMENT.
Some times the channel is classed as a data channel like the SBO channel for sky box office special
events. We need to change this from data to tv. We right mouse click on it then click on the change type
to tv in the menu. This then makes the channel visable in our favs and we can watch the channel.
Sometimes there is no picon showing in your listing. We can fix this by right mouse clicking on the
blank picon location in the middle bit of the dreambox edit screen. Then clicking on the Assign Picon to
service.
We need to point this to where we stored are list of picons. (you can download many different styles of
picons for your satellite service from many sites on the internet)
Then once we have found the right directory we scroll down till we see a picon we would like to assign
to the channel that needs it. You can do this for any of the channels even change the picon to a different
one.
Once we get back to the main screen we can transfer the files over to the set top box. We need to click
on the transfer icon button on the top of the main screen.
Make sure to tick the upload Picons when sending files to set top box.
Then click on Send files to Dreambox button.
Once this has finished. You need to click on the Reload settings on dreambox button. This tells the
dreambox to accept the new files and to show them. Some times this does not work and you need to
press the Restart Enigma2 button.
With a bit of luck everything should show up in the right places on your set top box.
Manually adding IPK files from your computer to your set top box.
Many group do not release images with softcam emu in them and you have to add manually.
To do this first find out where to download the correct softcam ipk file. You need to place these files in a
special directory that the set top box knows were to look to install these file. The directory location is
/tmp this is a tewmpory file drop that once it is installed it get deleted from the tmp directory. Open up
core ftp find your location of the file on your pc where the ipk file is hiding. You need to find it in the
lefthand side of the core ftp program.
When you send over the files you need to set the properties to 755
Once the files are sent over right mouse click on one of the files and select properties
Just change the Value to 755 and click ok.
Open up putty. Enter root then your password.
Then type cd /tmp then press enter.
Then you are ready to install the ipk file or files.
Type this (there are two types of command opkg for open pli and ipkg for older types of enigma2)
opkg install *.ipk
It is very important that only the ipk files you want to install are still in the tmp directory.
Then you should restart your box and get the softcam running.
