Please schedule your time accordingly. If possible, change title strips during non‐business hours. ♦ Before working on your jukeboxes, please turn the power off the jukebox system and amplifier. ♦ You will receive a perforated title strip sheet that contains all the new music. Please be careful when separating the title strips. Carefully: 1. Remove the cover of the jukebox. 2. Remove the coin acceptor and program holder assembly. 3. Tear the title strip from the sheet. There is a corresponding letter and number for the placement of the title strip. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 14 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems 4. Remove the title strip with your thumb and index finger to limit tears. Replace with the new title strip. 5. Once you have finished with all of the title strips, replace the program assembly first. 6. Place the coin acceptor back into the jukebox. Line up the program assembly and “hook” on to keep in place. 7. Carefully replace the jukebox cover and lock the jukebox. Move on to next jukebox until all are changed out. Discard the old title strips. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 15 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems 8. Remove current CDs and replace with the new music CDs in the corresponding slot. 9. Turn on the amplifier and CD system. Make sure the system is on autoplay. 10. To change the music, press the music cancel button or stop button on the CD player. Press the disc slot and title number. For example, song F‐7 is the same as disc 6 title 7. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 16 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems STEP 3: Let’s Play Games Microchip Installation Instructions for Changing the Program Chip for the Let’s Play Games Wallbox Interface WARNING: If you do not follow these directions and you damage the interface unit, it must be sent back to Let’s Play Games and Music for repair at your expense. Any questions to these instructions, contact us by phone at 562 867‐3114 or email us at [email protected] . Shut off the interface and unplug the interface from the wall. You may need to remove the cables and wires going to the wallboxes. Note the color and location of the wallbox wires so you can return the wires to the proper spots. Remove 10 screws from the cabinet sides and place the screws in a secure place. Carefully remove the top and set aside Two program chips have been provided; only one will be used. Look at the two diagrams to determine which computer board you have. Diagram 1 shows an interface with two computer boards which are double stacked; the upper board uses the larger chip on the upper right corner. Diagram 2 shows an interface with one computer board; this interface uses the smaller chip. Go to the section below (Large Chip) or the next page (Small Chip) and follow the instructions for installing the chip your wallbox interface uses. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 17 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems Instructions for Diagram 1 – The Large Program Chip Locate the program chip to be changed (see Diagram 1). Looking from the front of the wallbox interface on the inside, there are two computer boards double stacked; go to the upper board to the upper right corner. The chip is held in place by a socket which is connected to the green computer board. The chip is held in by one of two ways: 1) If the chip is mounted in a blue holder with a lever, simply lift the end of the lever straight up to unlock the Program chip. Lift out the old program chip. 2) If the program chip is mounted in a black or blue holder without a lever, use a small flat blade screwdriver in the slot on the outer edge, and rotate the screwdriver one quarter turn. Lift out the old program chip. When inserting the new program chip, the chip has a yellow band on the outside edge that must be inserted with the band facing the back of the interface unit. When installing the chip, be careful not to bend the chip “feet”. Make sure all the “feet” line up with the holes which inserting the new chip and secure the chip by either pushing down on the lever to its original position (holders with levers) or by rotating the screwdriver in the slot to its original position (holders without levers). The chip will now be locked in place. If disconnected, connect the small black control cable and “Audio In” cable. Plug the CD player into the back of the interface. Turn the interface on and in 30 seconds the CD player should turn on. Turn Autoplay on to verify that the CD player starts pulling CDs and playing music. After verifying that the interface is working, turn off the wallbox interface and unplug it. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 18 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems Replace the cover and install the 10 cabinet screws and return any wires back to their proper locations. Plug in and turn on the wallbox interface. You are done. Instructions for Diagram 2 – The Small Program Chip Locate the program chip to be changed (see Diagram 2). The program chip to be changed is surrounded by a white rectangle printed on the green computer board located on the right side of the board. The chip is held in place by a black or blue socket which is soldered to the green computer board. Use a small flat blade screwdriver between the program chip and the socket on the outer edge to lift up the old program chip. Make sure you are between the chip and the socket and not the socket and the green computer board (this will damage the computer board). You can see how wide the chip is by looking at its side. When inserting the new program chip, the chip has a yellow band on the outside edge that must be inserted with the band facing the left of the interface unit (next to the “U4” printed on the green computer board). When installing the chip, be careful not to bend the chip “feet”. Make sure all the “feet” are in the holes before pushing down on the chip and secure the chip by gently pushing down on the program chip. Replace the cover and install the 10 cabinet screws and return any wires back to their proper locations. Plug in and turn on the wallbox interface. You are done. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 19 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems Let’s Play Games / Seeburg Troubleshooting Turn off the power on the wallbox interface before disassembling jukboxes for repairs. Do not use a knife to remove loose coins for the area above the buttons, inside the jukebox. You can damage the button contacts. Be careful not to bend the coin switches (just below the lower right‐hand corner of the coin acceptor) especially when reassembling the jukebox. Be careful if you remove any screws – do not lose them; replacements are tough to find. NICKELS: Only “new” nickels should be used. Dirty, used coins could add to the “coin getting stuck” and dirty coin acceptors PREVENTING SERVICE CALLS: Many common jukebox problems that require a service call are by too many coins accumulating in the coin box inside the jukebox. You should make it a part of your daily routine to empty the coins everyday. COIN BOX OVERFLOWS: If the coin box overflows and coins become stuck under the metal cover above the buttons, do not use a knife to remove them. Remove the two screws in the front, above the “B” and “K” buttons. Lift the cover up and remove the coins with your fingers. Be careful not to bend any of the switch contacts inside. This cover is not used on all jukeboxes. COINS GET STUCK: When coins become stuck in the coin acceptor you may need to remove it from the jukebox to clear the coin jam. * To Access The Coin Acceptor – Remove the program holder (page assembly) first by lifting the top (where the lights are) slightly and pulling it forward and out. * To Remove The Coin Acceptor – Pull up o n the top chrome piece (where coins are deposited) until it stops. Tilt the top piece backward and lift the bottom of the coin acceptor up and out. * To Clear Jammed Coins – Press the red coin return button and hold it down. At the same time, turn the whole assembly upside down and shake it gently. Most jammed coins should fall out. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 20 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems CLEANING COIN ACCEPTOR: To access the inside of the coin acceptor for cleaning, remove the screw in the upper left‐hand corner and pivot the top chrome piece up and to the right (DO NOT LOSE THIS SCREW – IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND A REPLACEMENT). The coin acceptors open like a book with the hinge on the right side. The sections are spring loaded. Lift the front coin guide plate forward from left to right to expose the surfaces where the coins travel. The insides will probably look sticky and dirty. Clean with a clean towel and multi‐purpose cleaner. If ramp surfaces have a hard build up, it can be scraped off with a screwdriver. Reassemble jukebox and test if the coin accepter jams or rejects coins. Call Let’s Play Games (562) 867‐3114 and order a rebuilt coin acceptor for exchange if you still have problems with the coin acceptors after cleaning them. BUTTONS STICK: When replacing the jukebox cover after collecting coins, making a repair or cleaning, be sure it locks in place at the bottom of the jukebox. Buttons should not stick if the cover is a tight fit and properly locked in place. LIGHTS ARE OUT: Well lit jukeboxes produce much higher use and give a better presentation than one with the lights burnt out. To remove light bulbs, push, turn and remove. Light bulbs used for the page assembly can be purchased through Let’s Play Games or at your local electronics store such as Radio Shack. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 21 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems WALLBOX SIGNAL LIGHT STAYS ON: Jukeboxes do not play selected songs, which are caused by a short in the wallbox signal like either in a jukebox or in the wiring. The wallbox signal light staying on is caused by one jukebox having its wallbox signal shorted to ground (sometimes from a coin) or a short in the restaurant wire. The usual problem is a nickel on top of the letter switches. If coins become stuck under the metal cover above the buttons, do not use a knife to remove them. Remove the two screws in the front, above the “B” and “K” buttons. Lift the cover up and remove the coins with your fingers. Be careful not to bend any of the switch contacts inside. This cover is not used on all jukeboxes. After checking all jukeboxes for coins on the letter switches, if the wallbox signal light is still on, the next step is to isolate the problem jukebox. 1) Locate the wallbox interface (white cabinet box). Do what is needed to get to the back of the wallbox interface cabinet. 2) Jukebox wires are attached to a black screw strip on the back of the wallbox interface (see Figure 1: Wallbox Interface‐Back). Loosen the number one screw from circuit 1 and remove the wire from under the screw (note the color of the wire). Check if the wallbox signal light goes out. Continue on to the other circuits removing the wire under the #1 screws until the wire is located that when it is removed, the wallbox signal goes out. 3) When the shorted circuit is located, remove the wire under the #3 screw from the same circuit. This removes power from one circuit of jukeboxes. 4) Go to the FOH and locate the jukeboxes that went “dead” – no power from removing the wire. There should be about 6 jukeboxes. Note the location of the “dead” jukeboxes as the problem jukebox as the problem jukebox is one of them. 5) In the office, connect the wires back up to the back of the wallbox interface. Be sure the wires are reconnected from where they were removed. 6) Remove the covers from the jukeboxes located in Step 4. Loosen screw and remove the wire under the #1 screw on the first jukebox (see Figure 2: Expanded View). This should be the same wire color as the wire under the #1 screw on the back of the wallbox interface. 7) Check to see if the wallbox signal light went out on the wallbox interface unit. If not, proceed on the next jukebox until the shorted jukebox is located – the one that when the wire under the #1 screw is removed, the wallbox signal light goes out. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 22 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems 8) Connect all the other jukeboxes back up and close the covers. Temporarily cover loose wire with electrical tape on the shorted jukebox so it does not touch any metal. Reinstall cover. 9) Call Let’s Play Games for a replacement jukebox. JUKEBOXES ARE DEAD (NO POWER): Wallbox interface circuit breaker trip (pops) which is caused by a short in jukebox or wiring. When a circuit breaker trips or pops out; reset the circuit breaker by pushing in on the center of the circuit breaker. If the circuit breaker pops out a second time, there is a short in either a jukebox on the circuit of in the wiring. Locate the “dead” jukeboxes. There should be up to 6 on one circuit breaker with a maximum of 7 (they are usually installed side by side). Unlock and remove the cover of the “dead”jukeboxes. Loosen the screw holding the middle wire (#3 on Figure 2). Remove the wire/s from the left side of the screw. If there are two wires under screw #3, temporarily connect them together (electrical tape). Try to reset the circuit breaker. If the circuit breaker stays in, you have located the shorted jukebox. If the circuit breaker trips, leave the wires disconnected and continue on the second through the sixth jukeboxes until you have located the shorted jukebox. When the shorted is located, reconnect all other jukeboxes leaving the shorted jukebox disconnected. Temporarily cover removed wires with electrical tape so they do not touch any metal. Reinstall the cover and call Let’s Play Games for a replacement jukebox. EXCHANGING A JUKEBOX: 1) Turn off power on the wallbox interface 2) Remove cover from mounted jukebox to be exchanged 3) Locate wires on the bottom left side of the jukebox (see Figure 2: Expanded View). Note the color of the wires under the #1, #2 and #3 screws. 4) Loosed the 3 screws and remove the wires. 5) The jukebox is held onto the bracket with three screws located in the top right corner, top left corner and bottom center behind the coin box (see Figure 2 for mounting hole locations). Loosen these three screws. The screws should not have to be removed. 6) Lift up and out to remove the jukebox from the mounting bracket; guiding wires out of the jukebox. 7) Reinstall replacement jukebox in reverse order and turn the power on. Test the jukebox. New Music Program 2011 Revised September 2011 23 New Music Program 2011 – Let’s Play Games Music Systems WALLBOX INTERFACE EXCHANGE: 1) Turn power on the wallbox interface to “off”. 2) Unplug wallbox interface power cord. 3) Unplug CD player power cord from back of wallbox interface. 4) Remove the “interface cable” from the back of the wallbox interface. A flathead screwdriver may be needed. 5) Before removing the jukebox wires from the black screw strip on the back of the wallbox interface, mark the cables and note the color of the wires. Loosed screws and remove wires. 6) Install replacement wallbox interface. Reconnect the wires and install plugs. Turn the wallbox interface unit “on”. AMPLIFIER EXCHANGE: 1) Shut off power switch on amplifier. 2) Unplug power cord for amplifier. 3) Note where all the knobs are set to (take notes) and set knobs on replacement amplifier to the same positions. 4) Unplug the two audio cables coming from the CD player. One will be plugged into a spot marked “AUX1” and the other into “AUX2”. 5) Unplug the two speaker wires with a screwdriver. One screw will be marked “70V” and the other marked “COM”. Note where the color wires were located. 6) Reinstall the replacement amplifier in reverse order. Input 1, input 2 and input 3 knobs are to be turned to “0”. Input 4 and input 5 are about ½ way. To adjust the “master volume”, first turn the master volume down. When the music is playing, turn the volume control in the restaurant for the inside speakers to full on. Return to the office and turn up the master volume control on the amplifier until you reach the maximum sound level you want the store level to have during the dance songs. Normal volume settings: You should be able to speak in a normal tone and not “yell” over the music.
