ABOUT PROGRAMME
Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech
Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. It is recognized as one
of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a
highly-regarded Central European university. Masaryk University is currently educating
over 35 000 students, 20 % of them international. The Faculty of Economics and
Administration was established in 1990 since then, it has developed into a stabilised
institution providing education in the area of economics and administration to students
of Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral degree programmes. The faculty’s primary objective
is to further education and research in the economic sciences. The master program
Public Economics and Administration is designed for those who aim to understand
relations between the private sector and public sector. Students are encouraged to learn
critical thinking; they analyze problems, look for potential solutions and discuss the
impact of the solutions. Graduates may find employment in the public, private or nonprofit sectors. Not only do students acquire a profound knowledge of the system of public
finance and public administration, but they also study how to efficiently manage public
funds both in the public revenue (tax system, tax and fees administration), and in public
spending in diverse areas. Non-profit studies are also part of the program. Graduates
pursue their careers in managerial positions in regional and municipal administrative
bodies, government ministries, government agencies, municipal companies, or European
institutions. The structure of the study program also allows graduates to find jobs in the
private sector or in managerial positions in the non-profit sector, where they work as
directors, fundraisers, public relations or communications experts, project managers, or
economists.
