Piano majors (BM, BME, BA, MM, and DA with a GA) will be advised to audition for placement in a large ensemble by their keyboard area advisor based on institutional need and degree program requirements. 3. Scores are available on the Keyboard Area bulletin board on Monday, August 15, 2016. 4. Be prepared to play one selection from the standard piano repertoire as well as the orchestral excerpt and the choral work. Prepare the orchestral excerpt with the metronome marking given. Be prepared to play the accompaniment of the vocal score and the vocal parts as open score in any combination of voices. 5. Audition Material: You do not need to bring music to the audition. Students will be expected to sing a familiar tune and vocalize on scales and arpeggios. Sight-reading and some tonal memory recall will be requested. Returning Men’s and Women’s Glee Club students wishing to audition for the Concert Choir must audition with Dr. Darrough (Frasier 103). Register for the class through URSA and attend the first rehearsal. Music will not be mailed. 3. Drummers will use a Jazz Department drum set for their audition. Please provide your own cymbals, sticks, and mallets. 4. Students wishing to audition for jazz chair or combo will be asked to improvise. Be prepared to play a piece from the Aebersold Rhythm section “standard tunes” records.
